Certainly anything in life can break, especially if you hit it/damage it with enough force....

Really, which ones? The ones I see for the Toyota Corolla, for example, most of them are made in Japan or US, but there are a few with no origin (origin is in the Description): OEM Corolla Wheels - Olathe Toyota Parts Center

Is there any indication on the rim? I've got a set of OEM 17" rims loose in the garage right now; is there a country of manufacture embossed? They're under a cover; I'm kinda lazy but could look if worthwhile.

I received this from the dealer in response to my request for a spare.
It matches the 3 rims I bought on E Bay as described: 15" INCH TOYOTA PRIUS 2010-2015 OEM Factory Original Alloy Wheel Rim 69567A

I'm using the 4 rims for my snow tires.

The first time uploading on this forum so a bunch of pics.
I don't know regarding the Japan wheels - the pics are of the new rim received from the
dealer in June 2018, but it matches (incl. "China") on the wheels I purchased on E-Bay and those
    were represented as "Prius 2010 - 2015"

I'm riding around on them now.

Between genuine OEM China versus genuine OEM Japan and USA? Don't know. My point is not this tangent, rather, cheap light wheels (where most are made in China) can't be as strong as heavier OEMs at similar price points. In regards to wheels and really any metals, it's a balance of strength, weight, and cost (pick two). In areas where potholes or rough roads are an issue, and I'm in NY, this is why I asked about wheel strength measurements.
