I just went to look at a 2010 Prius with 114,000 miles on it for 6000.00 and noticed that not only was cruise control missing, but it was also missing the EV button. I thought that was a standard feature, no? Is there a way to add that feature/option? Thats kind of the whole point of a prius. Please let me know thank you.
are you sure it is a package 2? i think package one was fleet, and no cruise. not sure about ev, but before you godown that road, ev is NOT what prius is all about.
coming from three prius' I know thats not what its all about. But that was something I never saw before. Im not sure what package it is.
you can probably add an ev switch, like people did in their gen 2's. not worth the trouble, imo. cc might be more difficult and expensive, but the wiring is probably in there
Looks a lot like our dash, apart from the missing EV button. I wouldn't consider adding EV or cruise, suspect it would be very difficult, expensive. Probably a level "I" (roman numeral), one of the rare fleet level vehicles.
Agree Mendel, for 2010 there was a model I, the fleet package with no cruise control. Must be the EV mode was another "feature" they cut cost with?.. First I've ever seen this brought to light.

From GreenCarReport: The Prius I, Thome reminds us, was designed to meet the needs of "certain consumers, as well as businesses, municipalities, utilities, local government agencies, and other fleet operators seeking a fuel-efficient vehicle with an environmental focus." While he couldn't offer much useful information on schedule or retail sales, Thome did provide a list of all the equipment deleted to bring the price down. As compared to the Prius II, the Prius I does not have the following features: Cruise control Touch Tracer Display Smart Key EV mode Rear wiper Tonneau cover Heated side mirrors Satellite radio antenna and satellite capable radio Rear armrest with 2 cupholders 2 speakers Rear heater duct Passenger seatback pocket Foldable rear headrests Underbody spoilers/spats The 2 speakers is confusing. It basically means it has a 4-speaker setup rather than the standard 6-speaker stereo.
Since the car is electronic, I'd conject that the connectors and electronics are already there; just not installed for fleet use. Toyota is not likely going to make a special ECU and wiring harness for a short run model. I have the EV included switch for the Gen 2 laying around in a spare parts bin. The cruise control kit is available on eBay for less than $30 and is easy to install.
The EV button on a "conventional" hybrid is virtually useless.......so you wouldn't be missing anything without it.

@Georgina Rudkus would EV work if you swapped in the button? Purely guessing, maybe that's just the tip of the iceberg? Agree, mainly 'cus the usual time I want to use it is with a cold engine, say to move the car a few feet. And for me at least, without fail it's never available then. (The above one of the stripped out features on Level I) Geez I'd genuinely forgotten that even existed. I see it, when I touch steering wheel buttons (rarely, find them hard to relate to), but don't "connect".
I don't know. I don't have access to a 2010 Gen 3 without an EV button. If I did, I'd plug it in and try it.
Yeah, if you've got the button on hand, for sure: try it. But I suspect Toyota would not build in a capability, then cripple it by simply omitting the button.
I don't know. As I recall everything is there for the cruise control on the level 1 Prius c except the connecting cable and the control stalk. Kits to retrofit the cruise control are sold for under $30 on eBay. It's not like the electromechanical stuff of yesteryear that required many parts and an extensive retrofit.
Agreed with the above, the EV button on my Prius II is effectively useless, you're not missing out on anything aside from the aesthetics of having a shiny EV button on your console. Missing the cruise control I can see where it would be a pain in the @ss. I use that often when driving longer distances. But it's probably not worth the cost/effort to retrofit one in.
