From my experience, earlier in this thread, Express Mail is the worst way to go.

They route Express Mail (non-normal mail) to a different area because it usually contains legal documentation. Routing it back to the sticker department can then take 2-3 weeks.

Send it normally!

My recent experience:

Mailed 7/27 via express mail with USPS money order
Stickers issued 8/8
Envelope postmarked 8/9
Sticker #6972X

So my stickers were issued 1 day later and are at least 120 numbers higher than stickers issued the day before. Is it known that they are issued sequentially or are they non linear?

 

I would say sequential but i've not hard evidence to justify that.

I'd just think that because it'd be a nightmare not to have them issued sequentially.

 

Sent paperwork 7/25/06 and received sticker 70,00X on 8/14/06. If the magic number is 75K, that is still at a ways from now. Any idea how to remove the sticker without damaging the paint if the program is discontinued in 2008?

 

Sent in App in July - 2nd attempt as 1st time car was not registered.

Check cleared on 8/7

Have yet to receive my stickers!!! Drives me nuts every time I go to the mailbox and they are not there!

Hopefully receive tomorrow.

My check was cashed 8/8 and still no stickers as of yesterday 8/16. Every time I go to the mailbox I feel like a little boy waiting for his secret decoder ring. Let me know when you get yours.

 

stickers should be in a larger (that fits 1/2 sheet folded) white envelope with DMV on outside in blue lettering.

Mailed HOV sticker application 31 July 2006 with cashiers check for fee
Received stickers 18 August 2008
Sticker number 070846
Plates arrived 8/2/08
Go figure

 

6/29 - purchased vehicle
6/30 - applied (in person) for fastrak and received transponder & receipt
7/27 - plates number issued
8/1 - called dmv and got plate number
8/2 - mailed in hov sticker application w/ personal check via priority mail
8/4 - application received
8/16 - check posted
8/19 - received plates & hov stickers (713XX)

I was a little off in my calculations - based on the rate from the past month of so, I thought my sticker would be around #70500, but was around 800 off. That means that they are probably going a little faster (I thought if you mailed in by 9/10, you'd probably be close to the last sticker, but now I'd probably say end of august - just a rough estimate)

8/19 Postman came today and delivered junk mail. I asked him about DMV stickers and he said he has been out the last couple of weeks. Maybe substitutes gave them to someone else?

Cashed check Friday and I thought I would have them soon...
I didn't buy the car just cause of the sticker but it was going to be a nice treat of ownership...
Well the good news is they cashed it so you know they are working on it... Better than not seeing the check cashed. Once its cashed I dont think they can go back on it but I could be wrong...

Mine came in 8/26/06 and number was around 71,483. Seems like about 10 to 14 days after they cash your check you will receive them. Good luck everyone.

Argh, I think I'm going to re-send another application after my check cleared on 7/25 but with no follow up since.

Got a hold of someone today who promised to pass my contact info to the Special Processing Unit who will call be back in a few days, but I'm not sure if they will get back to me. So it goes...
