I almost always keep the Eco setting enabled on my climate control (CC). I notice that every time I change the drive mode to to "Normal", the CC's Eco setting becomes disabled. Switching to any other drive mode (ECO or PWR) has the CC Eco setting still enabled. Anybody else have this issue? I just want to determine if this is an isolated incident, or systemic programming issue. ¡Thanks! Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
It's programmed that way. You can set the Eco Heat/Cool independent of mode (whereas in the Gen 3, you had to be in ECO mode to get Eco Heat/Cool). However, when you switch out of Eco, it will also change the climate setting back to normal. S-Flow will remain in its original setting.
Ah, ok. Logic affected by legacy generations. This is my first Prius, so I am ignorant to such matters. I know it's a tiny thing in the grand scheme, but if it's Toyota's policy to err on the side of efficiency (only after erring on the side of safety), then Climate Control (CC) Eco setting would default to "enabled" between drive modes instead of defaulting to "disabled". Actually, to err on the side of safety, CC Eco setting should default to previous selection between drive modes. I change drive modes couple times each commute to/from work, as I prefer the aggressive throttle response for some dodgy ramps on the highway. Having to think about the CC Eco setting between drive modes is actually LESS SAFE, as the driver should be focusing on the road instead of climate control. Toyota design team, are you listening? Fair although one could argue that CC normal mode is safer lol (more airflow, less likely for the driver to be sleepy etc). But I understand the part about having to switch back and forth. Refresh my memory, does going back into Eco mode change the CC into Eco mode automatically? Satoshi Ogiso (the one with the folded arms) is the only one that has been a part of all 4 generations of Prius.
Sorry for the late response. I replaced my phone a while back, and forgot all about this forum. Drive mode: - Eco: always defaults to CC Eco mode - Power: always defaults to CC Eco mode - Normal: always defaults to CC Normal mode Satoshi Ogiso... Didn't know anybody knew the names of these guys. Pretty cool to know. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
Correction... Drive mode: - Eco: always defaults to CC Eco mode - Power: always defaults to CC Normal mode (corrected) - Normal: always defaults to CC Normal mode Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
