    Inventory details:
Overall Inventory levels are down by 40% in the last 2 weeks. New england and NY regions still have a bunch of Primes. Is this the reason for increase in incentives? Probably yes.
Huge fall in the inventory levels in the California , Central Atlantic and Pacific northwest.. Surprising that they are not restocking the inventory in these regions. Signs of the 2019 model coming soon?

Seems like Prime had the second best monthly sales for the year, after May -18 (Toyota sold 2759 Primes in Dec 2018) - Link: Monthly Plug-In EV Sales Scorecard

For the first time, Honda Clarity (Plug in) overtook Prius Prime in therm of Monthly sales numbers in December. Honda sold 2787 Clarity Plug in cars vs 2759 Primes by Toyota.

Yeah, starts at $34k MSRP but has a $7500 tax credit compared to $4502 for the Prime. It's bigger, seats 5, 47 EV range, but only a 7 gal gas tank. Requires you to change the oil every year or 7500 miles, not like 10k like the Prime or up to 2 years like the Volt.

I'm surprised that the clarity overtook the prime. Most of the dealerships in the bay area still have a lot of Clarity in their inventory.

Adding a couple of points based on my analysis for MA state (this analysis was done back in October November when Prime had just $2500 rebate):
    1. Clarity gets $3000 extra in federal tax benefits vs Prius Prime. ($4500 for Prius Prime vs $7500 for Clarity)
    2. CLarity gets $1000 extra in MA state rebates vs Prius Prime. ($1500 for Prius Prime vs $2500 for Clarity)- Now no more State incentives for 2019.
    3. Toyota had cash rebate of $2500 for Prius Prime in MA.Honda was offering $3000 Rebate for the Clarity in MA.

For the base version of the clarity, the math was like this: MSRP 34,290, Honda rebate: $3,000 Dealer discount: $4,029. Net sale price before taxes , doc fees etc : $27261.

After including $7500 federal rebates and $2500 MA incentives, Net price was coming down to around $18000, which was a better deal than Prius Prime (This was specific to MA).

However, I opted for the Prius prime because:
    1. Reliability of the Prius Brand.
    2. Could not trust Honda's Battery attempt. ( Consumer reports said it was one of the least reliable cars)
    3. Advice from friends not to buy a car in its first model year.
    4. Lack of 2 year free maintenance in Honda unlike Toyota.

Also Higher student discount for the Prius Prime in MA ($1250 for Prime vs $500 for Clarity), my lower tax liability for 2018 and my love for hatchbacks made me go for the prime.

You can probably arrange your own shipping for $1000 - $1500. But I think you might lose the CA CARB warranty for 10 years/ 150k miles

I tried doing some research on this but couldn’t find why an out of state Prius prime would void the CARB warranty.

Anyone think this same slickdeal will be happening same time (December 2019)this year with the upcoming 2019 Prius Primes?

Like the $4k rebate plus $4500 fed tax credit?

i think these deals will last until toyota redesigns the prime with a larger hatch and a few other changes.

the only thing that might affect them is a spike incas prices, in which case everyone with an suv immediately takes a bath a trades in on a high mpg vehicle.

Flew from Chicago To Buffalo to pick up my new 2018 Prius Prime Advanced from Basil Toyota in Lockport, NY. Great customer service from the people I worked with via phone, email and in person to make the purchase. Salesperson Mick Colucci was knowledgeable, responsive, and prepared the car well for me. No surprises, delays or add on costs. Would recommend them!
    Gray, Black Interior
    MSRP $34,500
    Rebate $4000
    Discount $700
Price $29,950 out the door with $150 fees
Taxes in IL will be about $2200.
It was fun to drive that puppy home!

I’m not sure you will ever get SUV people to quit! I see more and more here, not less.

One of the dealers here has a red I think it’s as Advanced model but I’m not sure. Website shows advanced in one place at $35K, other place on web shows $28,662. I also think it’s been used as a demo . How much additional discount might I expect? Thanks for your wisdom.

Funny how Southeast sales are 0. I live in Atlanta and after exhaustive search in October 2018 had to go to Maryland to purchase my Blizzard White Advanced.
