Eliminated reverse & seat belt beeping

    htmlspinnr - Thanks for the instructions on getting rid of the beeping. I sucessfully remove the beep from the Reverse & Seatbelt the first time after your added instructions. THANKS!

    Glad to hear.

    Ironically, after posting all that, I've not removed either. Reverse gets annoying maybe 10-15% of the time - especially in situations where my attention is focused on people walking behind the car, etc. (especially at first startup when it's stealthing).

    Seatbelt never bothers because I'm never without it.

    This is awesome. We've had our Prius for two weeks now (after a 5 month and 2 day wait), and the rear beep is the only thing we find irritating. I joined this forum tonight and learned how to stop it.
    The shop guy at the dealership actually told me that it was "against the law" to disable it, when I asked if it could be shut off. I can't wait to get out there tomorrow morning and put an end to the racket.

    I don't know why Toyota doesn't have it turn itself off after a couple of seconds in reverse.

    Even when the toggle says off, the seatbelt reminder chimes 4 times. Is there any way to get it to chime 0 times?

    The only thing not mentioned is that you have to actually be or put weight on the passenger seat to disable the seat belt warning on the passenger seat (2006 Prius)

    Speaking of beeps, does it warn you if you leave your headlights on after turning off the car?
    (I haven't gotten my new prius yet; but this is a feature my current car has; so, I'm hoping the Prius does too.) Or do the lights go off automatically?

    In the Prius if you turn off the car with the headlamps on, it automatically turns them off.

    Yes, It automatically turns them off but only when you open the driver's door.

    But do realize that there is a small current drain even though the lights themselves are off unless you physically turn the switch to "off".



    This isn't a huge deal unless you will be leaving the car parked for a period of time, esp. if you leave the sks turned on too. You could come home from a business trip to find a dead car in the parking lot and need a jump to get going.

    :lol: OK, I did this last weekend and successfully disabled the beep on my reverse and both seatbelts. But I must ask this since no one else has indicated it was a difficulty for them.......

    Am I the only person who found it difficult to hold the ODO button while buckeling and unbuckeling thier seatbelt with one hand???? Let alone reaching over and grabbing, buckeling and unbuckeling the passenger seatbelt??? I did it as I said, but DANG, it wasn't very easy. :p
