Hey everybody, to make a long post shorter, the bearings in my right rear wheel went bad and I had them replaced approximately 6 months ago. Fast forward to now I was doing my daily commute and the Brake, VCS, ABS, (!) lights came on. The brakes now have to be pressed a little harder but they still seem to function fine; just not as touchy. A buddy of mine works for snap-on so we used his scanner and these codes came up.

U0151 - 763 Problem with CAN communication between airbag sensor assembly and power management control ECU

U0155 - Lost communication with instrument panel cluster (IPC) control module

P3107-213: Airbag ECU Communication circuit malfunction

B1790: Airbag sensor assembly ECU communication circuit malfunction

B2312 : Master switch of driver side door malfunction

C0210 : Right rear wheel speed sensor signal fault

After searching throughout the forums it seems the sensor is most likely the reason for the lights, but I'm having trouble finding out how to replace the rear sensor (front is easier I hear) I also read a thread that said we should replace the bearing as well since we'd have to remove it anyways, but with it being 6 months old I don't really see why that would be reasonable.

Anyways, is this something that is a DIY for a handy guy? Do you agree that it is probably the sensor or do any of the other codes mean something more alarming to you? The car has had no big issues before these lights. Thanks a lot for any input as this has been very stressful.

Have you gotten a chance to look at the sensor connection and see if it is loose? Inspect the wires for any damage (rodents, etc)? Are you using Techstream to retrieve the codes?

The sensor is integrated into the hub assembly. I would look at the wires and the connection.

I have not yet, I will try to look at the connections later today. We did just have it maintenenced at Toyota (while the lights were on) and they didn't find anything but I don't think they are that thorough. So if I just remove the tire I will be able to inspect the wire?

    - As a side note, the lights would be off when starting the car then would come on after driving a little bit. As of yesterday, the lights have continuously stayed on upon starting the car.

Just curious what a better bearing do in this situation? I checked the 12v battery already it was fine. 12.6 at rest, 13.8-14 at ready. Didn't do a load test yet.

Five out of six of your codes have nothing at all to do with a speed sensor.

Those battery voltage look fine, and I'm not a subscriber to the slightly-low-battery-causes-all-conceivable-codes school of diagnosis anyway.

But looking at the collection you've got, I'd be thinking seriously about some more general issue affecting communication ... whether rodent damage to wiring, deteriorated ground points, some kind of interference-generating aftermarket equipment plugged in ... that sort of thing.

Thanks for the reply every bit of insight helps. I think I got excited that it was the speed sensor since others found that theirs was bad and also had those lights. I took the wheel off anyway, didn't find anything in particular wrong with the sensor wire. Tried to reset the codes with the 4-13 short method, they didn't reset. We don't have anything aftermarket. Rodent damage and deteriorated ground points are still likely, but still haven't found anything.

Hey! Did you eventually sort out your C0210 code?
    I'm having the same problem.
    What is 4-13 clear method?
I bought this car recently and the previous owner said last repair was bearing replacement about few months ago, and the abs light was on. I wonder if they have reset the error code after the replacement, to be honest, I doubt. At least there is no abs light on. I used Torque and it was clean, but I just found this new2me app, techbstream, which shows the error. So I'm thinking I should reset this code and see if it comes back. Would appreciate your help!

did you ever get this figured out? I've been getting the same set of warning lights on my 2012 Prius v. Last spring the dealership told me it was a problem with the rear hub/speed sensors, so I replaced both rear bearings, and the problem went away for ~6 months. I didn't replace the wires at that point, but since the sensor is part of the bearing/hub assembly, I thought that took care of the issue. Now it's back, and I'm wondering if one of the wires is bad. The wires are cheap at RockAuto, but I don't want to sink time and money into something that isn't necessary.
    Thanks for any updates!

Even without removing the wheel you can check it. It's visible if you just scoot under, plug-in is on the back side.

    Pretty much middle of pic:

(If it's on there, solid, I would not attempt to pull it off for a check: it's retaining mechanism is a royal pain, and prone to break. Even broken it stays together pretty good.)

The sensor is protected by a clam shell designed plastic shroud ;).

Once the shroud is removed, not so bad to remove the sensor clip(y).

I've never managed to remove the #@%^ clamshell. Both my sides on mine come of real easy now. Drivers side I guess because installers messed up (I got hit in that corner maybe 6 years back, the whole rear axle was replaced), and the drivers side because I was determined to see how to remove it...

Even just relying on friction, they've never come loose.

Bull in a china shop from time to time, eh:whistle:?

I had the repair manual procedure and knew what to look for when removing;).

Slow and steady won that race(y).

    Hi boss
Didi you find the solution for this problem?
I also have same code and I also change connecting wire and wheel hub and I tested the wire and wheel by switching connection from left to right so problem is not in wire and wheel hub problem is in system do you know how to fix it?
