Trying to decide between Barcelona Red and Gray. Living in Austin it gets hot... Any thoughts on heat resistance and thoughts on red fading? I know silver is a good choice but my last three cars were silver...
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Ghostrider @ Aug 19 2006, 08:39 PM) </div> either red or gray with ceramic tint on the windows is all you need.
Gray or the White... I have the Silver and it still is hot to the touch.. Tint is all nice and everything but there is this great big roof.. good place for a solar panel Red fade is not as bad as you might think if Toyota used a good paint.. I had a red Olds... and you could cook an egg on that puppy in the summer. But red would stand out... I got the color I did because of the color option in side... Sliver was not my first choice... Starting to be a lot of Prii in Austin. later and happy hunting.

We need an Austin/Prius gathering one of these days, sounds like! And as sharp as the Prius looks in black, I think it'd be an insane color in the Central Texas heat... Take care, Steve
I've had my gray Prius for 1 week now, in the Dallas area. I have the windows tinted at 35% all around (except front of course) and I've been really pleased with how reasonably cool the car has stayed in the heat. Of course, my previous daily driver was a carbon/blue Celica GTS with black leather interior and a plexiglass sunroof, so anything was an improvement.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Ghostrider @ Aug 19 2006, 06:39 PM) </div> I was advised by a CA central valley(kind of similar to your climate) detailer, he said that getting a perma plate type coating is why the red car I was driving at the time still looked new after 8 years. He did say that you don't need to pay a dealer for the job. Any detailer will do it for 1/3 the cost with the exact same type of product. Some even have the same guarantee. I was at the same point with choosing Red or Grey. I chose red with no regrets. I suggest you pick what you think you'd be happy with. Part of my deciding factor was that red was the first one I came across in my package. I could have kept looking, but didn't. Good Luck!!

I wanted to give a shout out to all the Prius owners in the Austin area concerning a planed prius rally in Fredricksburg on Sept 24. Currently this is on page 3 but at the current rate of postings it maybe on 4 already
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(jberry @ Aug 20 2006, 10:24 AM) </div> I would think that Silver or White would be tiring on the eyes from the glare on a long trip. That's why I got the Grey. On older military aircraft there was a black anti-reflection area painted in front of the pilot to correct for the glare of the bright aluminum metal. FishHawk
