OK everyone here's how we achieve peace in the Middle East. We get the UN and France to protect Israel from Hezbollah. All in favor say Ayeeeeeeee! Whose Brain Fart of an idea is this and what on Earth convinced the Israeli's to go along with it? Hezbollah will kick France's nice person out of there inside of 90 days. Wildkow
France is sending 200 engineers and another 500-600 on ships off shore... I notice that the USA (wisely) is sending no one.... The reason being that 200 Frenchmen will create so much second-hand smoke from their Galois' that the Surgeon General has designated the area carcinogenic.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Wildkow @ Aug 19 2006, 03:08 PM) </div> And on the 90st day, Israel will begin it's unmerciful and no-stopping-till-the-job-is-done attack on Hezbollah – at which time, the USA will be accused of not doing enough to prevent Israeli aggression. No United Nations “peacekeeping†force is going to prevent Hezbollah from carrying out its sworn destiny of wiping Israel off the map . . . but Israel will.
France and the UN...probably the strongest fighting force ever created. Terrorists are probably shacking in their beds.
I could swear I heard differently, that France was sending their entire military to be peace keepers there... What am I missing here? Isn't their military almost 400 strong and everyone is assigned to this? hahahahaha....   There will be a 6 month delay in deployment while they get new rubber installed on their slingshots.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Wildkow @ Aug 20 2006, 12:08 AM) </div> For one time, I agree with you, Kow. Imagine that... This was France's last chance to prove that they are still one of the "big" players. They have been very active preparing the UN agreement, working closely with the U.S. For a moment, Chirac could think of himself as a player equal to Bush. It was their "moment de gloire". And now, for the final piece, they fail miserably. Everybody expected them to send many thousands of soldiers, and now they have committed a ridiculous 200. A lot of words and few deeds, that is how you people will look at France, even more than before. It's even more pathetic if you compare this to the fact that my tiny country (10M people only) intends to send 250 men to Lebanon.

I do believe that peace is on the horizon. So much so I'm selling the Prius now while the market is hot and trading it in for a H2 in anticipation of gas prices plummeting back to the $1 range! I guess I'll start selling off the Toyota stock and buying GM while I'm at it.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(efusco @ Aug 20 2006, 10:58 AM) </div> Oh come on efusco! Selling Toyota stock because gas prices fall into the dollar range is the wrong approach. Dollar gas will not hurt sales because Toyota will counter with “free gas and maintenance for the first 250,000 miles.*good on all plug-in hybrid and electric vehicles only. [Evan, you do realize some PriusChat readers have malfunctioning facetiousness and sarcasm detectors, don't you?]

France sent in 49 engineers as peace keepers. I'm glad we can forget about the middle east now. Finally, there will be lasting peace in that area.
