I was able to get the phone connected to the car using John's instructions (thanks BTW I was not able to find any instructions in the manual). However, when I would try to transfer the phonebook the phone would disconnect and the car would just sit there until I hit the cancel button. Is this function not working? Also, when I try to select a phone book to enter phone numbers it says it is empty and will not let me do anything. Is there instructions somewhere on how to enter numbers in the speed dial and phonebook?
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Tadashi @ Jul 7 2006, 11:03 PM) </div> do you have Verizon service? If so, forget it. they have that feature disabled in their phones, so transfering phone book is not possible. If you have a difference wireless service, let us know.
I have Cingular but maybe they did the same thing. How do I setup numbers in my phone book so I can tell the car to dial? I can dial if I goto the map and use the phone number assocaited with the location but that is very cumbersome.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(jan @ Aug 7 2006, 07:05 PM) </div> I too have a RAZR on Cingular. I transferred my whole phonebook yesterday - one entry at a time Although the sequence was a little criptic at first, it worked well, just slow. Tadashi, here is the sequence that works in my '06 to transfer numbers one at a time - Get to the Telephone screen and ensure the phone is connected to the car via BT Settings Phone Book Transfer Data Pick one of the groups (you can name them elsewhere) Add To Then on the phone: Select your entry you want to transfer Menu Scroll down to 'Send" and select it If you car is not appearing in the list of object select [Look For Devices] (you'll only have to do this once) Select your car's device name It will connect and send the object To create a number in your phone book, do the following - Phone Book Register Name Enter the Name then press OK TEL1 Enter the number then press OK Group Assign it to a group To assign that number to a Speed Dial so you can access it while the car is in motion do the following - Settings Speed Dial Register Select an entry Touch the phone number showing for the entry (this is the part that is not obvious) Select a Speed dial group Touch the Speed Dial location to assign it to Now you can dial that number via Speed Dial while the car is moving Good Luck. Let us know if any of this does not make sense or if you have problems. Joel
I thought this was a real interesting link on the Razr "Ask Dave Taylor", another guy out there pitching Prius when he can.
I also have Cingular and a RAZR...no one helped me....but I finally figured out that I could send one number at a time to the phone book....then moved 17 to Speed Dial and Voice Tagged a bunch. I'm glad I took the time. I love the BT feature!! terri Later, a local Cingular dealer confirmed that with the RAZR the transfer has to be one number at a time.
Voice tags ... what does that mean ... can you use the sound system in the car to initiate the calls ??? Sorry for the dumbness but I just got my prius day before yesterday and I'm still learning. Thanx ... Ed
Yes, if you have the bluetooth feature then you can use the voice recognition system to dial calls. You have to record yourself saying each name that you want to be able to dial, which seems odd to me, since the Nav can recognize when you say street names. Full details of how to do it are in your manuals.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(propricer @ Aug 19 2006, 02:38 PM) </div> Once the phone numbers are in the book, you can go to the menu and add voice tags to about 20 of them....I'll have to go back and figure out the way I did it...it says how in the car's manual, but it took me a while to find a "down" arrow to take me to the voice recognition part of the tag....if I get a chance tomorrow and you still don't have it, I'll try to list the steps. I can use speed dial while I am driving and I can enter a phone number using my voice, but, oddly enough when I hit the voice button on the steering wheel, if I am driving, the car doesn't want to use my voice tags.... ...yet it will take a number input by voice and speed dial at any time...so I use the speed dial more than the voice tags.....I have voice activation for my RAZR and use that with the BT earpiece. Good luck. Will check back tomorrow and see if you got the voice tags in...as I said, I have them, but rarely use them, since I call when I am driving and use speed dial or number by voice entry. terri It took me A LONG TIME to figure all this out, especially the voice tags, since it was a simple down arrow I was missing ... Others have had trouble with phone book downloads...the manual isn't that user friendly as far as specific phones...some allow full phone book download...and mine was one at a time.
I would feel fine about using my BT headset, except that it's built into the car, so even though functionality seems oddly limited, I just feel like I HAVE to use it because it's there I honestly do wish that I could use my RAZR's voice commands through the car's audio system though since its voice recognition is better for dialing names and numbers.

I am one of those "lucky" people with the '04 package 9 who had to have the whole Nav system replaced . Everything was wiped out of my phone books and now I can't get the bluetooth to accept my phone again (same Motorola I had to start with) any ideas?
Blackberry Curve imported fine my problem is how can i use phone book while driving i have a couple hundred phone numbers in there..
The Verizon Voyager does. Cut the speed sensor wire and install a switch. When OFF it acts like the car is stopped and your passenger can dial. It effects the 5-minute bars on the Consumption screen and the turning wheels on the Energy screen, but if it's off only when dialing then you shouldn't see any difference.
