So I got in my 2008, hit the power button, and nothing happened. No dashlights (except for check engine light), no speedometer lights, no light on power switch. Thought maybe my fob battery was dead, so I inserted the fob and got same results, except the motor started up. Still no dash lights, speedometer lights, or power switch light. The cruise control does not work either. But the real kicker is that my car WILL NOT TURN OFF. My car has 326,000 miles and I thought it might run forever, but this is not what I had in mind. The combination meter ECU has failed. combination meter repair - DIY | PriusChat Try holding the POWER button in for a few seconds, to see if the car will turn off. If it does not, then you may have to disconnect the 12V battery. You can either disconnect the negative battery cable where it bolts to the body, or else disconnect the positive cable at the dedicated jumpstart terminal in the engine compartment.
Mine was flaky for about a year would be good for months then one day it would not shut off no mattr what I did all the tricks stopped working. Go in the hatch and on the black plastic assy that sits atop the positive 12 volt battery post there's a thick black wire that terminates in that plastic nice person that's the main power lead to the engine compartment. It uses a little white plastic plug to connect to that black plastic assy. Just depress the white clip release lever and pull that cable out out and that will shut the car off. Wait a bit and then plug it back in.
Thanks guys, found the threads last night when I had a chance to sit down and search. Are there any particular companies you recommend for ordering a refurbished replacement? Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
Yes Matt. make sure you state what you current mileage is so he can install it on the module. If not you will get the core mileage that was in the last car.
