Just made it back from Newark, NJ to Denver. Total trip was about 2000 miles and got about 50mpg on my first fill up between Jersey to Chicago.

    2017 PP Advanced Blue Magnetism
    MSRP $34,274
Toyota Rebate $2,500 (only in NY, NJ, MA expires 5/1/2017)
Sales tax $1400 (4.25% Arapahoe county, CO)
    Dealer discount $500
    Documentation fee $400
Out of state title fee $300

CO plate registration fee: 2.1% of taxable value for the 1st year then percentage gets lower after each year.

Be aware when buying in NJ, dealer has to collect 1st year registeration fees for CO DMV.DMV will ship permanent plates to the dealer and dealer will air mail it to my residence inCO. NJ temp plate is only valid for 20 days. Cheers!

How was your drive from NJ to CO? and how many miles did you rack up prior resting?

The auto cruise control is a life saver and the steering assist keeps you awake when you start drifting out of lanes. I had a buddy who flew out to NJ and drove with me back to Denver just over 2000 miles. For one person might be kind of boring and I recommend overnight pit stops in Cleveland, Chicago, Omaha.

Joe - Came across your post and looking at doing the same thing (I live in Colo Springs). Wondering how it went for you? I am looking at a dealership in NY, with a Prime Premium. Did you get the Colorado and federal rebate, or just federal? (Basically, the cost of the car is 6000 less there in NY). Thanks in advance!

illoomination I'm in Denver area and just bought 2018 Prime Premium at dealer near LAX. Here's my no negotiations price details.
    MSRP/List Price: -------------------$30,882
    Savings: ------------------------------ $2,715
    Selling price:-------------------------$28,166
    Rebates:-------------------------------$1,500

    Sub-Total: ----------------------------$26,666
Fees: -----------------------------------$516.75 - This was eventually eliminated since I'm taking it direct to CO
Sales tax: -----------------------------$2,683.41 - This will be rebated back to me in the difference between CA and CO rates
    Net Sales Price: --------------------$29,866.58
    Exterior: Hypersonic Red
    Interior: Black

While you will do better with 6k off vs 4k off, consider the time cost, flight costs, and hotel costs of the longer drive to east coast, vs LAX.
Ended up flying in to Orange County Airport for $125, and then $120 hotel in Las Vegas.

Regarding Tax credits, these are all part of your income tax filing. My understanding is, the key thing is to get the vehicle titled in CO as new. Crossing my fingers I've done this right.

Best of luck, its really a great car for the long distance drive, Auto Cruise is great.

    killzone4,

Thanks for the reply! All your points are well taken. We wanted to pull the trigger on this, but a long-overdue vacation coming soon and not being 100% sure are causing us to wait until 2019. We're figuring if we give it some time, we can look for a similar deal. (Now I have your L.A. recommendation as a possibility!)

Really wanted that red Prime... Not to be, but happy to have widened our radius to search, just wishing we'd known earlier that Colorado is a Prime wasteland.

    Cheers!
