I was able to haggle down to 24000+ dealer document fee of 500 dollars at a NJ dealer.
Did not want to drive up to MA, though I was getting a quote of almost 700 dollars less.

What about tax? My deal before tax would have about 23,500.

Hi guys, so I'm seeing a few posts in here pertaining to the last couple weeks in Southern California (I'm in Riverside county).

Some of you guys are getting Premiums down to 27 and 28k OTD? That's outstanding...! I'll give it a shot and email that Longo dealership, but I'm down to have one shipped into California.

However, I'm curious about 50 state emissions differences (if any?) And then possibly paying taxes twice... In California, OTD pricing is about 10% of the agreed price. And then I'm thinking of possibly leasing the vehicle for lower payments and included GAP, then financing after lease.

Anyone want to point me in the right direction?

Unfortunately, I'm looking for the Premium trim level. Lowest was about $30.5k OTD with 0.9% financing. Looking to go home with the car offered at $29k OTD, but none seems to budge. Perhaps the weekend before the New Years?

Not sure what that code at the bottom of your comment means, sorry i'm new to the prius world!

yes, multiple places I tried to competitor shop with said the same. They weren't even entertaining the idea, even though i showed them proof this was a legitimate offer. The dealership i check out with was also saying multiple times they can't believe they're taking a hit on this car. So i guess this is a YMMV situation.

What am I doing wrong??? No dealerships in San Diego and Riverside county want to budge whatsoever... We're approved for Tier 1+ too.

This was the last offer for a plain jane Plus, which I'm looking for a Premium... I wouldn't even pay close to this for an Advanced...

I would totally be okay with buying one out of state. I just don't know how the 50 state emissions and such applies... I flew out to Colorado to buy a car privately in the past, and was "gifted" and didn't have to pay any taxes on it. Pretty sure that ain't something I can do with a out of state dealership.

If I could get a Premium for 26K or a plus for 24k OTD, id fly out this Friday. Thing is I'd have to front around $2,275 to California, so there's not much saved unless I'm missing something.

How old was that car? I believe there would be a minimum age to avoid 'use' tax coming into your (and most) states, and no Prime is anywhere near such an age.

So I realized something, when people post the OTD price, they seem to be including the fed tax credit into it. But that doesn't change the actual amount financed, monthly payment would remain the same.

Or are people somehow getting the fed tax credit applied at purchase?

Edit: a 4000 rebate is also being applied... How are people getting this as this doesn't seem to be a thing in California sadly...

The rebate varies sharply by sales region, see post #2219 for the amounts for each region.

My region (Pacific Northwest) was awful during closeouts last year, but better this year at $3k. Your region is a measly $1.5k.
