Having a few second thoughts these days.... Currently have no car note...and thank God my Altima is fantastic.. runs great.. starts every time (my FFH died and would not start-RIP).. Although I love the idea of not getting gas (hardly ever for me with my daily commute), I currently only spend between 80 - 90 dollars a month on gas... Strictly from a financial point of view it makes NO SENSE to purchase another car.. hybrid, electric, or ice.. period So there are times when I just tell myself to just forget about it.. and enjoy the extra money every month without a car note.... BUT I miss those fleeting moments when I had my hybrid and I was driving all electric.... I miss having all the latest state of the art tech... I miss having fun driving my car trying to use the least amount of gas on every trip... I like the idea of having (at least most of the time) an "all electric car"... *sigh* what is a guy to do??????
You've been lurking here for 9 years, coach. SO.... That tells me a few things: 1. Priusdom not a 'passing thing' for you. 2. Unless your commute to work terminates at a really large building on SugarBowl drive with a round roof, you're probably not a one-percenter. 3. You have absolutely NO BUSINESS buying a Prime right now - financially speaking. OTOH, Coaches are somewhat goal oriented (pun almost unintended) and there are often other motivators to putting your life on hold for years and years and years to chase after a trophy and a hunk of paper - so "financially speaking" might not be your North Star. I'm thinking just as a SWAG that you can leverage the one quality that you've demonstrated (patience) to get a Prime on the cheap. Think: Lease return. After all...if my daily commute swells from three miles to 50....or 100 in the next few years - which in my industry it might indeed, then my actions TODAY would be to get about a $10,000 Pip or Plug in Prius. I'm sure that you will recall that just a few years ago those puppys were going for 40-large, and now they are in the bargain basement bin. BUT.....they're every bit as reliable and efficient as they were when they were $40,000 and up, it's just that somebody moved the ...ah....goalposts. It's gonna happen again with the Prime. Just saying. Good Luck!
The new 2019 Prius is looking pretty cool stealing looks and the fantastic blue from the Prime, but still no updates on the 2019 Prime!! *waits*
The 2019 Prius isn't getting CarPlay, so don't expect to Prime too. All-Wheel Drive 2019 Toyota Prius Debuts at 2018 L.A. Auto Show | Digital Trends But there is a rumor about a fifth seat in the rear for it.
That’s a pity. I suspect the 11.6” screen has something to do with it. They don’t want half the models with Entune 3.0 (the 7” LCD models) and leave the 11.6” with Entune 2.x)
If they have CarPlay and not Android Auto, that would be a MAJOR turnoff for me. It's kind of like bigotry, and I refuse to own anything made by Apple until they stop being who they are.
And here I am.. anxiously awaiting Santa to bring me a new HomePod!!!! If that is true about no carplay... may make a pitch for the '18s still on lots. Try to get a great deal..we shall see
they don't want to let on, or they'll have to further discount the 18's maybe 'someone' is trying to tell you 'something'
They still haven't announced anything about the 2019 Prime but since we now have the specs for the 2019 Prius awd I guess we can just assume a couple of things based on that. Looks like there really wasn't that much different about the Prius except the awd, a little bit of style change, they moved the heated seat buttons, and it now starts with the infotainment center of the Prime. I think the article I was reading said that there might be apple car play but not android auto. Which really sucks. Personally I was waiting to see if the Prime gets TSS 2.0 but the awd regular Prius that they announced only has TSS-P. I wish that I could wait one more year since I think that there is a chance the 2020 model will get all the good changes people are wanting.
I hope and pray that the new prime has carplay... that will seal the deal for me. If anyone ever gets confirmation of this and when we can begin ordering please let me know!
The 2019 Prius is the mid-cycle refresh. The Prime came out a year behind the Prius. There are rumors of a full rear seat, I wouldn't expect any real changes until the 2020 model.
