2007 Prius non-touring needs better corner and high-speed handling. I have followed several related posts regarding chassis and suspension upgrade. I'm looking for rear sway bar upgrade first. Is Gen 1 Pontiac Vibe/ Toyota Matrix rear sway bar fitted with Gen 2 Prius? Or Gen 2 Pontiac Vibe/ Toyota Matrix also fitted? If it is, I will search for Vibe/Matrix rear sway bar. It seems both have sport Version ( GT/ XRS), but I don't know whether the bars are stiffer and thicker than base ones? Is Gen 2 Prius rear suspension same as any model year of Corolla? As far as I know, Gen 9 Corolla is basically same as Gen 2 Prius, How about newer model year, Gen 10 and Gen 11 Corolla? Are they still similar design? If so, I can look for tuned suspension parts for any model year of Corolla.
best deal is used corolla/matrix bars front and rear. for a bit more the rear TRD or Progress bar is a super easy upgrade. front OEM corolla bar is good enough, a little more difficult to install. since you will likely have to lower the front subframe, spray paint the subframe ears so that you have reference marks when you reinstall. then get an alignment.
To swap the front sway bar is it absolutely necessary to drop the subframe or can you get it out by removing the center exhaust pipe / lower control arms or any combo of the two? Really don’t want to drop the subframe I just had an alignment last week.
some alignment shops guarantee the alignment for a year. if they do, just don't tell em what you did.
When I changed the front to a Corolla one it changed alignment, camber was off. Mine was aligned for free since they didn't know I changed the bar. Replaced the bushings while at it too. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
If I do something that requires an alignment and it’s still within the alignment warranty I use the ole pothole excuse.
