Hey guys! So recently i hit a curb which has resulted in me supposedly needing new front struts for my Prius, as well as inner and outer tie rods. It is an 07 with 147k miles on it. I was quoted 2300$ from pep boys for this work and 2000$ from the discount tire center chain. Just curious if anyone knows a good mechanic near by who can do the work for less, if these sound like accurate appraisals or if maybe you all think its time to get rid of the car. I am the first of my family to get a hybrid car and we are not very big car people in general, Any and all advice helps thank you!
Just wanted to add in i have a friend who said he could do the work on his breaks and works at a local mechanics place, he seems to do his repairs himself and offered to do it under the table for a lot less but i am not sure how reliable his work might end up being. additionally i would have to buy the parts up front and am not sure that i would need to buy exactly. any thoughts?
if he can't tell you what parts to buy, and has never worked on a hybrid, maybe look around some more. it isn't difficult, but you must be aware of any differences. if he isn't conscientious, i would google hybrid shops and yelp.
Check out Eastman lexis toyota in Murrieta. I'm having Mt brake accumulator done there. Received damaged part in mail. Need to wait for replacement part to come in. Haven't had work done there yet, but so far my dealings have been straight forward. Labor rate seemed fair for the job I need. SM-T700 ?
