I recently bought the illuminated door sill lights for my Prius Prime Plus and they were marked that they would fit my vehicle like all the rest. Here is the catch, the base model (Plus) doesn't have the footwell lights which you need to tap for the instructions.

There is a standard doc file that I can't upload but it tells you how to take apart the panels for all levels of prime, use that to take your panels apart.

Next up you will need to partially remove one more panel. The panel that is to the rear of the car when you are looking into the doorway. Pull the rubber door gasket off all the way to the top of this panel, then you can just for the most part pull that panel towards the seat to remove it enough to access what you need.

Behind there you can detach the wire that goes to your door open and close switch. You can tap this wire for your negative. I ran a wire from here along the door sill wire bundle to the front of the car where the fuse box is. I ran it here so that I can add other things like footwell lights in the future to the door being open or closed switch. Also it makes it easier in general to have all your connections in one place.

Next you will want to get power for this. I used what is an easy method, I used a fuse tap on the low profile mini fuses from the dome light. It's a 7.5 amp fuse and third from the front on the right. Here is an example of what you would need: https://amzn.to/2JFLTMS

I added a 5amp fuse to the outgoing side that I will be using for my sill and potentially in the future footwell lights. Probably more than I need but safe I think.

Now that you have positive and a negative you can make your two connections and voila, lighted door sill.

For the passenger side I snaked a wire from the fuse tap power behind the console and around the front side of the car and repeated the process of tapping the passenger side switch for my negative connection.

If there are any details or more pictures I can include to help let me know. I think this will save you a lot of time if you have a plus and would like to add these lights.

If you don't mind adding more photos for archive purposes (I'm sure someone 5 or 8 years from now will thank you).

What types of photos do you think would help? It's actually pretty straight forward with the description. I'll snap a few of the fuse tap, and wire routes.

Typically it covers steps where things need to be removed, so people can see the next step ahead of what they're doing (e.g. when you remove the door sill plastic to run the wire or the footwell panel, you can show how many pins there are and where to pull).

Now I assume the document you have, has photos, which is why it's clear in your mind but for the uninitiated, it may not be. (Unless you're able to upload the document in the future).

Again, no pressure. Just mostly for archiving .... when someone asks in the future, I can redirect them to this thread for example.

Is there a way I can upload the standard doc file from toyota? It doesn’t let me upload .doc files

In MS Word (or equivalent word processor software), save it as a PDF and upload it.

Weather outside was a balmy 30F but inside the garage with the wood stove going was 76F. You need the surface temperature to be at least 60F for the sills to stick.

As a side note I ended up running my 12V battery down and the car wouldn't start. Said 12V battery too low. So I ended up using my new SuperCapacitor Jumpstarter. It actually worked really well and got my car "started" so I could at least leave it on and let the traction battery finish topping it up. Odd thing about the SuperCapacitor jumpstarter was I actually used my discharged battery to charge the SuperCapacitor to 15.6V which of course was more than enough "start" my car.

Note for anyone in this thread based on owning a Prius Prime Plus, as was stated in the title, these photos show you trim removal from more angles. But this is a Prius Prime Advanced which does not need the special wiring that was the intention of this how to post. If you have the foot well lights as show in the 5th or so photo you can just follow the PDF in the comment/post before this.

Anyone know how to tap these into the dome light or door courtesy lights? Worried doing a fuse tap method the light will not turn off if the door is left open.
