I recently got my 2015 plug in, but I'm disappointed with the sound quality through speakers.
There's no much to do on audio settings by changing treble, mid and bass so I believe I have to replace the speakers for better ones. Nothing big like amplifier or equalizer, just speakers to improve sound quality and maybe increase volume.
I know certain Prius models come with JBL speakers. How big is the difference between this and regular ones. Thanks!

My previous Prius had the JBL system. My PiP base does not. With all the road noise, I can't tell the difference.

I have the JBLs and they are way more than I need. I took a 70 mile trip and let my crazy friend control the music. There was no distortion, but it was so loud I thought the windows would break. And the bass, it was so thick in the air you could almost slice it like a block of cheese.

    Fabulous!
Where can I find this or equivalent speakers? The dash board ones would need to be replaced as well?
    Thanks!

If you open up the doors to replace the door speakers, you might consider adding soundproofing in the doors while you have them open.

As far as swapping out speakers, someone else will have to help you there- it's out of my depth. However, I just went out and checked, all the speakers are in the 4 doors, none are in the dashboard.

Oops, my mistake. Just found 2 dashboard speakers at the base of the windshield.

I replaced all my JBL speakers with Kicker speakers, 6x9 in the front and 6.5 in the back. I ordered them from Crutchfield and they came with wiring adapters so I did not have to splice the factory wiring. You have to drill out the rivets to remove the speakers and then install the new speakers with screws. I also sound insulated the doors with Noico sound insulation. My Prius sounds awesome and it is quite, I can barely hear a semi truck next to me.

That's the next project I am planning on my car. I don't turn up the volume too loud on my PiP so I will be keeping the JBL system it has. I will be sound proofing the doors though.

    be well
