Hello, Was wondering if any one has ever changed a thermostat on a 2007 prius? I have a mechanic friend of mine that is going to help me change mine. Just had a few questions before doing it. Where is it located? Is at the bottom of the engine block ? ( been a long time since I have done one since my 1983 oldsmobile and that one was on top and nothing was on the way !). I did some research about bleeding the cooling system after changing it to get all the air out of cooling system. There is a hex bolt on top of radiator. Any insight is greatly appreciated !
Welcome to PC. If you are going to replace the thermostat I would also replace the coolant pump and belt while you have the coolant drained. Instructions in the link below. How to replace engine coolant pump and thermostat | PriusChat John (Britprius) It would be helpful if you put your location in your avatar as this helps us help you. I assume your in the US in which case the pump is available aftermarket for around $40, and the belt $10. Only use Toyota SLLC coolant when re filling the radiator, John (Britprius)
I know this post is old, but I made a video showing how to change the thermostat. Hopefully it's gonna help a few people.
