No, my did not come with the sticker and I had to apply for one which was issued in February 2017 and the car purchased back in December 2016. I should be eligible for a renewal based on the published criteria.

Yep, you should. Why don't you reapply for the stickers and say on the form that the old ones were damaged? That trick worked for others on this forum.

Received my red stickers today, as well.

Just wondering... what is everyone doing with theirs? Simply putting them right on top of the current green ones, or next to it?
I'll probably just try to put mine on top of the current ones (too bad, I like the green color better)...

October 17, 2018 (as I posted elsewhere in this post), I mailed in my completed form and have just received the new RED stickers today on November 19th, 2018. Pretty much what I expected. The paperwork says they expire January 1, 2022. Very cool. Mr. stevepea, I guess I'm doing what you suggested regarding installation of these new stickers, since you can't easily remove the previous stickers without trashing the paint. I guess somebody knows of a solvent that could safely remove the stickers....

Somebody wrote you can use a heat gun. Don't know myself. I've been putting off putting mine on. I'd be careful with the heat gun if you are going to try that.

YouTube has all kind of removing old decal video. I will try to use hair dryer and goo gone or turtle wax tar removal. Hair dryer temperature is less than 50 C should not hurt paint. Just need to heat up and soften the old glue. We will see what happen.

Hair dryer works great. It’s much easier to remove old decal with heat. Most deficult part is to remove glue residues. I had to apply “Turtle wax Bug and Tar remover” a few times with old plastic credit card to scrape off the old glue. Once sprayed Bug and Tar Remover you had to have paintient to give a minute to let it work before scraping old glue off. It took me 40 minutes to remove old decals, clean off old glue and apply new decal. Now I am set till 1/1/2022.

Deifferrent color each year, Ca DMV will run out color in a few years. Just saw an old Prius still has old yellow decal on. Guess some people don’t remove old expired decal.

So I got my red sticker yesterday and I have put mine up today. Just using a heat gun in low heat setting and googone solution to clean up surface. Just remember to use your hand to check surface temperature from over heating..

Hey guys, so I bought my 2017 Prius Prime on 06/06/18 but the dealership gave me the red decal stickers and HOV certificate which states that it was issued on 03/12/18 and valid until 01/01/19. But with the new law, would I be eligible to get a new certificate that says it will be valid until 01/01/22? If so, can I just call DMV for an updated certificate or would I have to submit another form and mark "Information correction/update"? If so, do I still have to pay $22 since I already have the red decal stickers?

You do qualify for extension beyond 2019. I'll let the Ca. owners describe the process.

See the link to the form in post #73. Send in the completed form with a check for $22.

BTW, I didn't know where to post this so I'm trying it here in the HOV sticker post. I sent away for replacement stickers when my rear bumper was damaged and I lost the stickers on the back of the car. It cost me $22 more, but I got the stickers and only 23 days!
The DMV is getting their act together.
