]Hello priuschat! I have a pretty "simple" question for you knowledgeable guys, is there any significant difference in functionality between 04000-32528 ($50) and G9020-47031 ($80+) inverter coolant pump? Difference in price online is $30+ but both lists compatibility with 2004-2009 Prius. It's for a 2007 G2 Base. Thank you
As @Skibob kindly notes, there was a recall, and the recall work instructions (PDF) say on page 3 that part number 04000-32528 is a kit consisting of the G9020-47031 pump plus a gasket, part number 90430-18008. The gasket is to replace the non-reusable gasket on the drain plug, which must be removed to drain the coolant before replacing the pump.
^ B-I-N-G-O! The kit makes it easy all you need in addition to the pump kit is some SLLC. A gallon should be more than enough for the inverter pump replacement as I recall. But for $30 I bet you can source the drain plug crush washer more cost effectively. Your choice.
Thank you very much guys, I just did the HVAC Coolant Control Valve change yesterday so I drained the coolant and put new one in, I'm planning ahead with the inverter pump so it will not fail on me when I need the car and definitely will do the coolant change since I don't know when it was done since I purchase the car. I will buy that kit whenever possible Cheers.
