    What a waste!!
Only mainly showing the useless in-car navigation, which easily guides you to a bad route.
Why no Andriod Auto, no Apple CarPlay?
Could other users please share what other good things you can use with this big screen?

Ugliness is another attribute - seems to be the way many are going. If I wanted a big screen, I'd not have retired - spent too many years in front of a big screen there.

But it is your infotainment too - but no real advantage that I can see over a 6" or 7" screen.

Android or Apple - TOYOTA has clearly stated only recently that they don't intend to go with them. No idea why, but I think they're barking up the wrong tree. Millennials particularly will just go to another MAKE with Apple or Android.

Mazda were similar - but just recently have come with both - and retrospectively - and increased their warranty from 3 to 5 years.

Did you not know that before buying the car? My screen doesn't look that big. Is your Four model different?
But I like the features on the screen, and they can be changed to show diffferent things. My navigation has never sent me on a "bad" or wrong route. (But you are in DC, with all that "Spyware" in the air. :ROFLMAO:)

It's also irksome to me how such a large screen only shows so few characters of text when showing title and artist when listening to Sirius XM.

Haha. I had no choice. This was the only 4 model at the dealer.

This reminds me of something, completely off-topic but anyway: the typical invoice from our dealership. I bought a liter of Toyota 5W20 conventional oil (for another vehicle), and this is the description in the invoice:

    BULKA GEN EO 5W-

And here, the oil filter for our 2010:

    BULKA ELEMENT, FI

And the oil pan drain bolt washer:

    BC09 GASKET

I think he's referring to the new 11.6" 2018 screen, which is huge like the Tesla's. Very distracting IMO, I don't like the look of it, it spoils the whole interior of the car.

The 2019 will most assuredly have CarPlay. The Camry, Corolla HB, Avalon, Rav4, etc all picked up CarPlay for 2019. Basically as the vehicles pick up the Entune 3.0 head unit with redesign and refresh, they get CarPlay now. Android Auto is in the pipeline as well.

Not according to our Premier Motoring Journal - they quoted from someone at TOYOTA being interviewed, not coming.

Don’t know what to tell you. CarPlay shows up all over Toyota’s website for Entune 3.0 cars and there are reports all over the web saying that Android Auto is coming, too.

and I read something in the last week or 2. Maybe something to do with the Coriolis effect in the Southern Hemisphere?

So - maybe it's just TOYOTA AUSTRALIA's decision - you might be getting it in USA?

MAZDA, who also were resisting it (our 2nd biggest brand here) have just announced that it will bring Apple/Android to market ASAP and retrofit it to recent cars. Which might get TOYOTA thinking.

    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
    Still about TOYOTA down here

On the news today, was a statement by TOYOTA that it won't be bringing PHEVs to Australia. They're saying we don't want them. And that it's evidenced by almost 50% of the new Camry being sold as Hybrid, and 40% of new Corollas. Odd way of looking at it - seeing TOYOTA hasn't ever offered a PHEV in Australia. The journalist thought the same with his headline:

That's an easy statement to take out of context. Do you have any detail at all to go with that?

Your market may be more likely to get the upcoming Corolla PHV instead.

Except that - TOYOTA came out with the PHEV late 2011. I quizzed them in 2015 (via dealers) and was told no. Still NO.

IONIQis arriving any day now (promised in Sept, then October, now November) - in Hybrid, PHEV and EV forms. From talking to a few people I know (some PRIUS owners), I think there is a pent-up demand for PHEVs. The logical progression in a country with not real good EV Charging infrastructure, is from PRIUS to a PHEV.

TOYOTA might miss out - but they might be right too.

That's encouraging. Hope Toyota can give an update for 2018 car by then.

They almost certainly won't back-update. Maybe for a cost - but only if the hardware is compatible. Mazda is retrofitting here in Australia on cars up to a couple of years - $495. On a Ferrari, I read that it's a $3000 option.

I believe the CarPlay update to 2018 and prior models will be the opportunity to buy the 2019 Prius at your own expense.

They should bring Android Auto. That covers 80% of market share globally instead of just 20%.
