all. I have recently changed the CR 2032 3V battery for the fob but since then it randomly seems to lock the car and keeps flashing attempting to lock the car continuously despite the car already being locked. When it does this it is very difficult to unlock the car due to the fob continously trying to lock the car and only after pressing the unlock button maybe 5 or 6 times it will unlock as it should do. It decides to stop flashing/locking the vehicle whenever it decides to and can't understand why it is doing this. I am not aware that the fob needs to be synchronized with the car on Prii so was wondering if anyone knows what is causing the fob to operate in this strange manner. Any help would be appreciated.
Some ideas: The battery you bought is bad Your 12v car battery is weak The button on the fob is stuck Is this an SKS car? What year is the car?
It is a 2006 Prius. 12v battery is less than 12 months old and is a dealer (Toyota original battery replacement). I have put 2 new different batteries in the fob as I thought maybe the battey replacement was faulty etc. I used a Sony first time and the 2nd replacement is a Panasonic.
My theory is the button is stuck but it has only started doing this since the battery replacement (I think). I have tried pressing the button in different ways to try and solve this problem assuming this is the cause.
I had this problem with my old FOB case that was falling apart... Bought a new case on Ebay for $10 and razorbladed the existing FOB in half and swapped out all the internal pieces and that solved it. But perhaps just to keep me guessing, it still has the problem with automatically locking on its own on rare occasions. But hey, better to have it randomly lock than randomly unlock.
