Getting tired of waiting for a really New advanced Prius C. I have a 2012. Like the concept. Want some thing new and more advanced. Not just a tweak. Huge wave of competition coming. Are they going to DROP the "C" and just run with the PRIME plus in?
For it to get better MPG, more HP is unlikely. I would suspect a 1.3 liter engine would be easy to design as it would share parts with the current 1.5 liter. Toyota NZ engine - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia A 2NZ-FXE would have about 20% less HP.
Not looking for a major bump. Just enough to get it moving when entering the highway. Right now you have to "time" your entry and always make sure there's enough runway to get onto the highway without making everyone else slow down.
I could see an issue if you lived in Colorado, but California is pretty flat. Maybe I just drive slow, I don't seem to have any issue merging into traffic. I usually stay below 3K RPM as well.
I got a 2015 Prius C 3 with "premium audio" plus nav. The only thing I want is Android auto which eclipses my head unit. I played around in a buddy's 2016 Chevy Cruze and hated that car but loved the Android auto. Just wait however long it takes until Toyota gives up entune which may be a good 5 years from now
I want to purchase a replacement for my 2012 Prius C. 47,000 miles. Original tires except one replaced. Only problem to date is burned out back up lights due to water standing in lens. Drilled holes let water out ! Visited local dealer inquired about new model. He insulted me; I want a 2019 model. they want to sell 2018 cars and they had no Prius C in stock. I am worrying about driving on 6 year old tires. Local tire dealers cannot supply equivalent tire. What should I do?
If your Prius really only has 47,000 miles I would keep it. You "may" have a HV battery replacement coming up, but that's cheaper than buying a new car. As for the 6 year old tires. Your dealer may not have an equivalent one available, but why only buy tires from the dealer? Your dealer not having a 2019 model available is understandable. The Prius C has been a VERY slow seller in the US over the last few years. Still popular elsewhere in the world, but its expected to be discontinued here in the United States with many people saying the 2019 will be the last year for it. There is a Corolla hatchback coming out and the Prius C would be a direct competitor to it especially if the hybrid version comes to the US. Yeah, I'd just keep the car you have now, but that's me.
I don't want to sound critical, but unless you have many thousands of dollars to throw away, replacing a car to get new tires is an extremely poor decision. Tire options for the C in the OE 175/65R15 size are limited, but there are good tires available through TireRack or TireBuyer (buy online, have shipped and installed locally) if a tire dealer won't sell you tires (which seems ridiculous). I just looked on TireBuyer, and you can get the new Continental TrueContact Tour in a 175/65R15 size with H speed rating for $352 (4 tires), and there is a $70 rebate. Probably about $400 with taxes and installed then to get some tires that are 3x better than the junk that came with the car.
lol, buy a new car just because your barely old car will need a new set of tires. what logic. $350 divded by 5yrs = $70 or so a year (cheaper than any of your nonessential life subscriptions.. and that's like only less than $20 a wheel. per year) great thing about the C (or eco cars) . their tires are pretty cheap and you can rarely tell the difference between one brand to another because most/all LRR tires suck in almost all departments except economy replaced my original GY assurance @54k miles for BS ecopia and all it took was some clicks on the internet a week's wait and off to the neighborhood kostco (it's the 21st century who has so much time to drive to local shops to check inventory?)
As everyone is saying here, it's not logical to buy a new car just because you need tires. Also, buying a 2019 just because it would have better tech than the 2012 you already have doesn't justify buying the same new car especially if you already have one. I'd consider the Honda Insight if I had to change vehicles...
