Yesterday, I parked at the airport garage in the section reserved for plug in and hybrid vehicles. I saw what I believe was a Rogue parked in one of the reserved spaces. Looking closer, I noticed that it had a hybrid badge. That got me to thinking - does anyone steal a hybrid badge from a car to put it on a non- hybrid car. The obvious advantage would be to use reserved parking spaces and to use the HOV lane in some states. I looked on Amazon, and sure enough Hybrid badges are available to "replace your stolen badge". A Prius is obviously a hybrid, but one could put the badge on, say a non-hybrid Camry or other vehicle for the above stated purpose.
Yeah, that's possible, but I have never seen any PRIUS or any legit hybrid with missing hybrid badge including mine. But, come to think of it, I have not been to any place where hybrid, plug-in, or BEV get special treatment over regular ICE cars, so there may not be any demands for the hybrid badge in my local. BTW, Nissan Rogue comes in Hybrid, so it was probably legit.
I've seen a couple of 24" lifted diesel extended pickups with hybrid badges on them as well as a Hummer. . . . .
I suppose that since the hybrid "badges" are available for little money on amazon, then there would be no need to steal them, thus the humorous badges found on the big A** SUV's. Yes I do realize that the Rogue comes as a hybrid. Where do I get a Corvette badge?
$5 on ebay: Metal Crossed Flag Decal Emblem For Chevrolet Corvette C7 Stingray Badge Sticker | eBay There's a photo floating around on the internet of our Prius with a license plate frame from one of the exotics dealers in our area (we were customers).
Not a Prius - but a Camry or RAV 4, etc. Couldn't someone find a Hybrid badge inexpensively on Ebay etc or even order one from Toyota? I looked on Amazon, and sure enough Hybrid badges are available to "replace your stolen badge". A Prius is obviously a hybrid, but one could put the badge on, say a non-hybrid Camry or other vehicle for the above stated purpose.
I de-badged the back of my Prime, so it has nothing other than the Toyota logo. The plug-in hybrid badges both sides near the front wheels remain (I think these cover a body hole).
Back in the day (a few years back), I used to see the hybrid badges on Hummer H2s as some kind of joke.
