hello need help in finding a good set of coilovers for a decent price...im new here and this is my first post i just bought my 05 prius alittle over a month a ago and this is going to be my first big mod i need some advise where, or what site i can buy them at...thanks
I was looking on tirerack.com promotion page Tire Rebates & Special Offers and they are offering up to a $250 rebate on coil overs by KW but then I checked for vehicle and they are only offering a set of H&R springs for the gen II for $206+shipping (1.4" lowering on the front and 0.7" lowering on the rear). I have no information on if those are any good since I live in the north and buying anything that lowers my suspension would kill the ability to drive in snow so I never even do any research or consider buying anything like this.
I assume we are chattin about coil over springs. If so alot of chat peps went with Eibach Pro .....if these are still available
Tirerack had the Eibach's for gen III but not gen II for some reason, just the H&R, but that doesn't mean Eibach's aren't available from another retailer.
http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-ii-...en2-eibach-springs-discontinued-now-what.html Eibach has stopped making springs for the Prius 2nd Generation. I'm currently looking for lowering springs and replacement shocks for my 90k mile Prius. Anyone have any suggestions for springs? B&G, H&R...which brand is not expensive but still provides improved handling vs OEM and lowers the car? Sorry to jack your post, but why create a new one when everyone can discuss lowering spring performance / reviews here? I've searched for other posts and reviews but didn't find anything substantial. I'm sure I'm not the only one who wants to know which springs to buy...
Two years ago I replaced my 07 Prius OEM springs with a German LOWTEC lowering kit. Driving the car on the road first upsetting impression was: understeering has increased, instead of reducing. This was very strange and unusual lowering and stiffening the ride, but this car is unconventional and very heavy for his class. I moved back to OEM springs after two weeks and was happy to do it. I own this car from 2007 and I've always replaced lowering springs in my previous cars. I like to drive relaxed most of the time, but sometimes I have fun pushing the car very hard, to its handling limits. Lowering springs didn't work with my Prius During these years most succesfully handling modifications have been: #1 Installing a front strut tower brace (reduced understeer, less dash board noise, less engine noise: for sure one of the best improvements ever) #2 Replacing OEM hollow rear sway bar with the solid Corolla TRD 24 mm diameter (reduced understeer, very close to neutral handling, more cornering speed, no comfort reductions). This step really changes handling behaviour and brings you satisfaction. These are the two single best handling improvements you can do on a 04-09 Prius. And I would stop here if you are not looking for racing oriented behaviour. I'm planning to replace front sway bar with a stiffer one (24mm) as next step but I don't feel very definate this moment: understeer may come back on this strange car.
Hey everyone ive been doing my research and I'm going with some Megan coilovers. My previous car was a 93 lexus ls400 and Megan's were the lease expensive out of the coilover choices for that car and that was most reliable, and comfortable. Im really not a believer in springs not by experiance but just reading other people's reviews on them. I'll update when I get them and put them on...
ebay Item number: 330658249953 MEGAN STREET COILOVER DAMPER SUSPENSION PRIUS NHW20 1NZ-FXE 3CM 32way adjustable | eBay
I've been asking to our italian Megan dealer (ULTRASPORT RACING CARS PARTS - Componenti speciali per auto sportive ad alte prestazioni) and they told me they prefer british BC Suspension coilover as they "are quite more reliable and better quality manufacture". BC Suspension makes a coilover kit for 04-09 Prius
Yes those are the ones i dnt know if those are the exact ones but difinatly simpilar. Already ordered them just have to pick them up from a shop in SoCal can't wait...!
Yes I know BC is a over all better suspension but also alot more money I got these for about 800 from a Megan vender on clublexus and BC would probably run around 1000-1400 bucks. Also one of the reasons I got Megan's was because I'm familiar with at brand from my Lexus.
Not to revive an old thread... but I've been really considering the Megan coilovers, but wanted to see what else was available. I know I can't be the only one out there considering options when it comes to lowering and suspension upgrades. I was thinking Megan, but after reading this post: Differences between BC and Megan coilovers | Modern Performance’s Blog I'm thinking maybe BC or another manufacturer. Just did it had great success with the Ground-Control adjustable sleeves, but I'm too lazy - I want an easy remove and replace item. JustDidIt - Modding My 2007....The 2008 Touring died. | Page 6 | PriusChat Another discussion about coilovers: Full suspension upgraded | PriusChat I'm at the point where I have to do something, my shocks are on their last leg and my drives to work are getting really bouncy - so I know the springs are doing all the work, and the shocks aren't absorbing much any more...
I have a brand new set of Megan coilovers for sale and a brand new set of WHITELINE bushings kit. It cost me 749.00 for the coilovers and 100.00 for the bushings kit. I'd sell all of it for 650.00 plus shipping Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
