Gen 1 2001 prius in mint(y) condition in junk yard

    saw this 2001 green prius in minty fresh condition :sneaky:in a junk yard. Does not look as if it has been hit, or that it has hit any other car. Clean interior with prius label floor mats, owners manual, and original battery(?). Clear air filter, they didn’t remove the brake fluid see pictures.

    Maybe the battery finally died, or it needed one more repair that was the final straw.

    it’s green so it’s in minty fresh condition ;) been there 2 weeks; still intact; cat gone.

    Just like mint OS is in minty fresh condition (y).

    Seen many head to the junk yard for bad motors, bad transmissions, or bad hv batteries.
    Grab the VIN and check Toyotaowners.com and you may find some history.

    After looking at the pictures some more. The front wheels appear to be straight, but look at the steering-wheel - it’s turned left. Maybe the steering broke? Or very bad alignment?

    I am looking for a 2016 to take the rims off. Last year it was $75 to change tires back to OEM, today it was $80 to change to ~winter~ tires, I keep cars a long time, get the rims(and have the other tire set installed on said rims), save money in the long run – I'll switch my own tires, seasonal change prices will only go up.

    i find it amazing that the bodies aren't rusted out. i see a lot of mint gen 1's on the road, and a lot of rusty honda's circa 2000.

    Come out here and you’d see all te remaining gen1’s in no rust condition;).

    The drivers are the maker for cars here:eek:.

    I almost lost our 2010 Friday on the way to work. An old Chevy work truck wanted to go 3 lanes over to the faster lane and just missed my front bumper and ended up clipping the truck next to me:cool:.

    His hurried ness went punished and we’ll deserved(y).

    If the steering's in OK the wheels are probably there too, unless it's in a very funny location and they're in KS, MO, AR, TX, NM, or CO.

    As much as I like my 02, this makes me sad. It is a nice car that should have been rescued. Where is it located? If it were in Phoenix, I'd take a boatload of tools and rescue parts. I'm in Tucson.

    Service records suggest that until a couple of years ago, it was in Havasu, AZ. That explains the condition, no snow, no salt, no rust Last entry says Northbrook Il. So it's probably out of my neighborhood, That is a very nice hulk, tho. Wish it was closer, I'd go mine parts to keep other Prius's alive.

    Voodoo economics! If you put $2500 in to a car that's worth nothing, and it extends the life of a nice car, it's worth at least $2500. It's a desert car, no rust and probably will need a inverter pump and maybe a brake booster pump (used of course) within the next 50k miles. I'd probably have fixed it.
