I was looking over my tires the other day.. and noticed the paint on the rims seems to be bubbling up. (you know.. that look on old cars as surface rust starts to get under the paint) Has anyone else expienced this.. I have the 75K extended warrenty.. I do not know if this would be covered or not.. I want to get it taken care of before it gets worse.. I have 70K on the car now.. Any suggestions? Scott

Or did your dealer do a chrome job on them before you bought it? I *think* that any modifications/equipment you got with the car when you purchased it are covered under the extended warranty, so you might want to check with Toyota corporate before believing what a dealer tells you.

My car is 1 year old, and I also have the bubbling paint on the alloy wheels. I complained at Toyota, and they said it is caused by the salt in the winter (I would have hoped the paint on the wheels could have lasted more than one winter !!). The service manager said they could have the wheels polished and recoated under warranty anytime up to 3 years (i.e. under the regular warranty). Problem is they need to keep the car for about 5 days, so I guess I'll bug them for a free loaner.
