So Toyota just announced that wired Apple Carplay is coming to all their cars in the next few years. I’m literally in the process of ordering a Prius PHV (Prime in the US) right now & this is making me question my purchase. Literally the only thing I haven’t liked about the car is the lack of CarPlay as my current car has it and I’ll miss it once it’s gone. Now that this announcement has been made, It’s making me reconsider. The annoying thing is I do actually Need a new car this year & if I’m going to buy, there’s not much of an option to wait as my current car is company owned & I’m getting kicked off the scheme later this year. Does anyone know what the chances of a retrofit being available once it comes out? I’m guessing slim, but one can hope. I spoke to Toyota about this and they seemed to hint that those vehicles running Entune 3.0 might have a pathway to Apple Carplay in the future... however, I don't think the Prius Prime in any trim level uses Entune 3.0. I've used CarPlay on rental cars and absolutely loved it. Feel free to call Toyota and ask them about it: 800-331-4331 (M-F 7:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. CT, Sat. 7:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. CT). The more people who bug them about it the better the chances tnat something might get done.
Our vehicles use Entune 2.0. This old thread title should be modified so as not to seem like a recent discovery - it does not affect Prius Primes and likely will never.
Well it's not confirmed unless you have a press release or a dealer printout so I'll modify the title. It's basically the same educated guess that we have.
