On your first graph, I'm intrigued by what appears to be a slow ICE idle - or is it just being turned but not firing?

I would guess that Hybrid Assistant picked that value from starting or shutdown of the engine. Logging was on in both cases.

This feature is necessary for emissions inspection.

For Primes, you have to hit the EV/HV button to put it into HV mode (turn off EV mode) for this to work.

Thanks for describing this procedure. Toyota seems to really love these special "Chicken Dances" to activate special modes in their vehicles. And I live in fear of somehow accidentally activating one of these modes during the course of driving my Prius.

They generally seem to have enough unlikely steps that I wouldn't be too worried about that. I still worry more about doing them right when I want to.

Off-topic: there may be another chicken dance for 5th gen, for getting piston to retract with the rear brakes, due to introduction of electronic parking brake.
