I bought a used 2001 Prius in 2015. It needed the main battery replaced in 2016. Now it is not running. Needs a generator. $4000. Plus I cannot afford! What is it worth? In cash? In trade ??
You can sell it if priced low enough and if you're patient. For example, an experienced mechanic that knows how to find a used generator for cheap, can use his own labor to replace the part. Maybe he'll flip it. It depends on how cheap you list it, what kind of battery you installed in '16, miles, and the condition of the rest of the car.
Have to assume by generator you mean traction battery, Prius is a generator "because of" the traction battery and if yours is original, it's toast, well, it's a Toyota, so, if the body is good and passed inspection, a new traction battery, installed by a competent technician will bring life to a relic.
No, he said he bought a new traction battery in 2016. He means MG1 or MG2. At least that’s what I think he means by “main battery replaced”. I could be wrong though.
