Hey All! First time poster, but long time lurker I love the look of the Gen 4, but I’m worried about the rumors of a mid life restyle for 2019....the purple(potential restyle) looks blah...... I want the Seaglass/Black combo. My question is when is the last date I can order a 2018 in that color combination if I don’t like the 2019 restyle? I’m really torn between waiting to see the actual 2019 or buy now because since this will be my first new car ever, I’m set on the color combo. Thanks!
welcome! ordering a car from toyota is pretty rare. talk to some dealerships, and let us know what responses you get. all the best!
I have a 2016 Sea Glass pearl/black and I think it looks great. I bought at discount end of the year when the dealer needed to make room for the “new model”. I suggest you do the same. The only difference is paint and light bulbs. And a saving of $5000
Yes - and the saving could be more if there are panel/lights different on 2019 model. Particularly if you're not in a hurry, and can wait till a few months after 2018 is "old hat", and the dealers want to clear them from their inventory.
The last ordering date for model year 2018 Prius and Prius Prime cars was September 10, according to Toyota’s fleet website.
Production swap already happened and remember the Prius is still 100% Made in Japan. Your 2018 options will diminish as existing inventory is sold. http://www.cars.com is a great tool to see what's out there and allows you to avoid Dealership and Regional "influences". Your being in Atlanta this is important too, because SET (Southeast Region) is known to be a major pain to work with. You did not specify level or options, but below should get you close. Note, your Color requirements mean there are not any close by. Also, Dealer Trades do not happen between Regions...ever. You can buy anywhere in the US you want and pay your TTL when you get back to your home State. https://www.cars.com/for-sale/searchresults.action/?clrId=27128&intClrId=27109&mdId=21751&mkId=20088&page=1&perPage=50&rd=99999&searchSource=SORT&showMore=false&sort=distance-nearest&stkTypId=28880&zc=30301
I was dead set on blue. But by getting the boring dark gray, I was able to haggle more on the last day of the month than if I'd demanded they find a blue one. Add to that the fact that any real color (meaning not black or gray) costs $600 more and they really encourage us to buy the boring, mass-produced colors.
I just bought a Green with the Moonstone interior in Indiana. They still had some Green with the Black interior. The dealer should try to get your car if available. Good luck. I love my car!
Is it true that the 2019 Four or Four/Tour (non-Prime) won't be available until Q2 19 and there won't be any official word from Toyota about updates, such as Apply Car Play, improved headlights, etc. ??? I finally decided I want a Prius, but lack of info may force me in another direction. Thanks everyone.
You might also want to consider trade-in value (unless you plan to keep your car forever). 5 years from now, a 2018 will be worth less than a 2019, even if they have exactly the same mileage and options.
But likely a 2018 will cost you less than a 2019 - may not make that much difference. My previous car was the "year before" - saved me about $4000, and I took a hit at trade-in time of about $1000 - $3000 in front.
