2010 Ready Mode Failure

    After removing and replacing the power source circuit breaker under the driver's instrument panel, the car would not go into ready mode, all kinds of lights lit up the dashboard and the brakes go to the bottom.
    Car won’t start or go into gear.
    All electrical equipment work, including the A/C.
    Check for continuity on all circuit breakers without any of them opened.
    I am sure it is something simple that’s killing me.

    Have you attempted to see if any DTCs are present? May point you in a direction to go or at least hint toward a system that may have a plug not engaged or something.

    Not yet; it took me all by surprise and it stunned me. I’ll do that first thing this morning. First I want to ensure I didn’t pull the wrong CB and placed in wrong slot.

    If you, in fact, have a 2010 Prius as the title says, after you get your CB issue sorted, you might want to edit your profile to reflect that, removing the reference to the 2008.

    In fact I have both, 2008 and 2010, and did not see a need to make changes. I may even add another and never knew it was required to have a profile for each Prius I own.
    I hope your input was in good gesture and not a reprimand, which I would find highly offensive and unprofessional for this forum.

    No way! I love giving advice and finding out they have a completely different Prius. Like the guy who was giving us his input but he was talking about a rav4 instead when I asked which prius he had without stating model, data sooo helpful. For the record it wasn’t raytheeagle

    Thanks again then and thanks for clarifying.

    This issue has me stunned since all I did was replace a CB. Being that it is so uncomfortable reaching under the column, I had to pull each CB; the owner's manual and the plastic cover do not match in size CB or where located. The card also says “CA” which, in the old days distinguished if built for CA emission or the rest of the country. I think they are all now matching CA requirements.
    I am a bit frustrated to tackle it right now and it’s too hot out with sun hitting ride on dtiver’s Side.
    BTW, I just changed my avatar to reflect my two Priuses

    OP,

    I'm not familiar with Gen 3 models with regard to the issues you're having. Can you clarify for me? You discussed replacing a CB under the instrument panel. I took this to mean a circuit breaker behind the dashboard. (again, I don't know Gen 3 very well except for the HV battery) After reading through the comments again, I'm beginning to think it was actually a fuse replacement in the passenger compartment fuse box? Are we just using different terminology or was it actually a circuit breaker?

    I am just too frustrated and trying to get a cool mind before I check all of them.
    The CB is a term we used in the Navy got Curcuit Breaker (CB).

    Yes, a fuse... don’t we all wish they were circuit breakers one can reset.

    Perhaps they are available at some surplus stores. There was a time I had access to lots of many different amps; but it would take rewriting an entire 1968 firebird.
    In retrospect, they were easier then and we had lots of space to work with.

    Does this mean you actually removed every fuse and then reinstalled them?

    Yes; since it is do hard to read or test it where the box is located, I had to pull them one by one to check. However, the owners Manual and the label on the cover of the fuse box do not match in location of fuse or amps... the manual calls for a 7.5amp fuse while the cover says 10a for the same fuse.

    I'm very confused by your photos. Aren't those 2 photos of the same fuse box? It looks like the "attachment" photo is an upside down version of the full size photo. If they are, the fuse locations in the attachment are way different than the locations in the full size photo.

    Yours fuses need to be like the full size photo. There are some minor amp rating differences for some positions depending on the options installed on the car.

    Pretty sure this is for the 2010 model.

    They are the same photo, one is a closeup; space is so limited, my phone could not maintain focus even with additional lighting. And yes, you are right, it does not match what’s on my owner’s manual.
    BTW, the type fuses used by Toyota are hard to find, they are much shorter that what’s commonly found at Autozone, where I got replacements from.
