Trying to figure out the best way to run power wire through the firewall to install an amp. Probably 8 gauge wire but possibly 4 gauge. Read in the 4th gen forum that there is giant grommet that can be used. I was assuming the chassis of the 4th gen and prime was the same. Maybe not? Anyways, I've attached a photo of what I believe to be the grommet. If that is the grommet, how would you get the wire through? concerned about poking through there and damaging something underneath. Also, anyone have a photo of an install that shows the wire route through the engine compartment to the battery terminal? Thanks for any info.
Yes you can run the power wire thru that. Just pop it off and run the wire thru. If you shine a light you should see it come thru the firewall
I drilled a small how to run the wire through. Then I sealed it with a small grommet and rtv. I initially tried to use that grommet but it was giving me issues and i didnt want water to potentially leak onto the cabin harness.
@ Depe. Where on the firewall did you drill the hole? Drilled from the inside I assume? What type of issues were you having with the grommet? @Heiyu92. What do you do after you run the wire through, you wouldn't be able to pop in back on with a 4 gauge wire running through it. Cut a hole in the grommet, where the nub is maybe?
