I did this on my 2015 - but not sure how to take off the bumper on a 2018 - any videos on this - youtube came up empty.
I did it to install my OE type fog light kit, Here is a link to instructions for removing the bumper cover on a 2016 which should be the same for a 2018. Lots of fasteners and screws, but I didn't have to totally remove the bumper to get at the fog light fasteners. JeffD
I replaced the horns on 2016 without taking off the bumper cover. Just four pop clips and the black plastic panel at the front of the engine bay comes off and you can reach in and change them. This should be the case for the 2018 model too and is a very easy job with no changes to the wiring needed. Link below to my before and after Before After
I did the same. No need to remove the bumper. Now my 2016 sounds like a Ford SUV! But I did need to buy some new plastic clips when reinstalling that black plastic panel. I lost one, and the other 3 felt kinda loose.
Just an update - this was a piece of cake.... as stated above - take off the plastic top panel in front of motor compartment. Unscrew one horn - remove connector tap into Positive wire (Black/Silver dash) Negative wire (Solid black). Installed two Fiamm Freeway Blasters 72112 Low and 72102 High. No more Beep Beep. Awesome. No relay or switches needed .. right to factory wires.
Glad you are sorted, but I didn't have to tap into any wires. My Freeway Blasters (74100 El Grande) just plugged straight onto the existing plugs, so I wonder why yours were different?
Mine sounds pretty much like this Ford. I installed the Flamm horns, as recommended by the Priuschat members. Just plugged right in. Glad I did. I hated that Roadrunner meep-meep sound.
Hi everyone, First post. Got a new Prius two weeks ago. Hate the “beep beep horn.” Followed posts here and purchased Fiamm 74100 El Grande horn kit from Amazon. Super easy to install, thanks to great instructions posted here. One wire to male blade on each horn. However, no sound! Only clicks. Put the OEM horns back in place. The instructions from Fiamm show a “Jumper Wire” installed between the unused blade on the horn and the 6 mm stud on top of the horn. These wires were not in the kit. Does the fact that the jumper wires were not installed mean the horns won’t operate? Thanks much for any help!
Yes I did. No need to touch the bumper. You may access the horns from under the hood. Simply remove the shield that surrounds the hood latch for access to both horns. It's on the tight side but my 68 yr. old hands managed. I used a high and low horn available from a local parts store chain. Simple.
