Looking to purchase a used bike rack for two bikes... Will any trunk style bike rack work or does the Prius have a special need? Thanks
If "trunk style" means the kind that attaches to the trunk with straps and the like, I doubt they would work given the special shape of the Prius rear end. Even if it did, you are asking for scratches and a wobbly install. The Curt or other similar receiver installs in 30 minutes and is definitely DIY. I'm an idiot and I had no problem installing it. Then you can use any hitch style bike rack. The "1UP" model (1UP USA | OFFICIAL SITE) is expensive, but well worth the price for the easy on/easy off and no possibility of bike scratch.
