I finally got around to installing the splash guards I ordered from the UK. Oddly, Toyota doesn't offer this accessory in the U.S. Anyway, at the time I found these, I had posted that I would update the forum with the final install. Sourced from Burrows Car Parts, Sheffield, who gladly shipped to the USA at a reasonable cost. Installation was easy. The official instructions specify a 6mm drill bit to be used to make a few holes in plastic trim. I found that a 6mm bit was too large, taking into account the supplied screws. A 3.5mm bit worked better and is what I would recommend. The screws would not have tapped properly had I used the 6mm bit indicated. My wife drives on gravel roads from time to time, and there are already some stone chips along the rocker panel and behind the rear wheel arches on our car. I should have been less lazy and installed the flaps sooner. One positive comment about the flaps themselves. They are made of a stiff rubber material that still flexes, rather than hard plastic like many OE accessory splash guards. Interesting, despite me clicking the create thread button one time, it seems there are two identical threads. Not sure how that happened.
Look good - I wonder if they don't offer them in USA as they might affect the official l/100 - MPG figure? They're not offered in Australia either.
I just finished buying a 2018 Prius Four and wanted to purchase Mud Flaps because I had them on our 2008 Prius. Went to a Parts Store and they commented that because the car is so low in the front, it might be a problem going over apartment concrete bumps and could possibly cause damage. Danny, in the Prius Shop said there were mud flaps from Europe that cost $190 which I thought was pretty high price. What is the recommendation for a 2018 Prius especially considering Toyota doesn't sell them any more? What's the difference between the UK mud flaps you purchased and the ones offered in the Prius Chat Shop? Are the mud flaps safe to put on the 2018? Thanks for your help.
I bought the European mud flaps from Daytona Toyota in Florida. Installed them myself with ease. My car is lowered 1" and I do not have any issue with rubbing.
If anybody's in need of a front passenger side (that's right side) mud flap, I have one to spare. My left one was damaged and I bought a pair...
I bought my first set through the PriusChat shop. Looked great and I was very happy with them. I had an incident where my flaps on the right side were damaged and needed to be replaced. My auto insurance company would only pay for "Toyota" brand products and so I found that Daytona Toyota offered mud flaps and my body shop ordered a set from them. Turns out that the two sets were similar, but not identical. Not a problem because the shop had to order four to get two - so they replaced the two good ones on the left at the same time.
