Checks, including Cashier's Checks can be fraudulent! You wouldn't believe the scams going on currently. You should research the dealer's reputation, as well as the salesperson you deal with.
The request for SS# is to run a credit check on you to be sure you're not a con artist. Sorry, this is the state of the world today; look at the disaster of our Federal, "so-called" leadership. California does have a HUGE amount of consumer protection; check out the 25 foot contract you sign to buy a car!!!
Know who you are dealing with!! It's all about reputation; I asked friends for referrals to good dealers; I was lucky in having been in California auto sales for some 23 years.

I remember using personal check with SS# PRINTED with name, address and phone#. Waaaaaay back when the words like "identity theft" did not exist.

 

Don't waste your money on an extended warranty with a Toyota Prius. Get a spare tire!!

Point of Information: spoke to Toyota Corporate, customer support yesterday, 9-19-18, who told me Entune will no longer offer Pandora, Open Table, or Facebook within the next couple of months. The latter 2 were worthless to me, but I will miss Pandora. My Prime is an Advanced; I'm not sure if these features were on the other models.

@HPrimeAdvanced Entune is on the Plus and Premium, just a smaller screen. The apps are also coming off the Lexus Enform too...

 

Well at least it wasn’t a “hard” pull. No negative effect on credit score.

 

Shouldn’t this thread be changed to remove the 2017 since the 17’s are sold ?

 

Note that the list of dropped apps does not include any of the Advanced Apps. Just 3rd-party apps, where the partner has decided to terminate support for Entune. Besides, the media apps are free, but the user pays for the Advanced Apps with their Safety Connect subscription. The 3rd parties probably figure that all of the car companies are moving to Apple and/or Android Play, so forget about yesterday's proprietary interfaces.

There’s one 2017 left at the closest dealer to me, but more 2018’s are being posted here.

So, almost 2 years later I have seen a member post after all incentives now about 50% off this price. Was it an advance too??

 

See the thread about hundreds of 2017s stuck in SoCal for sale. Also , many incentives available to move these 2017s out. This thread maybe more important now than before!!

 

the deals weren't great early on, there was a supply problem. then there was a glut in the northeast and the deals were fab. then they got cleared out and the deals were fair. now, i'm starting to see improving deals. i just heard a prime add for $2,500. factory rebate.

Got rid of (buyback) my 2011 VW TDI and purchased a 2017 Prius Prime Advanced today at Heritage Toyota of Owings Mills in Maryland for $29,197.56 OTD. With tax incentive will bring this down around $24,000. Love the car so far!

Bought a red 2018 Prius Prime Advanced in Seattle this weekend. With the premium color, destination charges, and $69 for the rear bumper appliqué that it shipped with, sticker price came to $34,684. Took the $2500 factory rebate and got them to come down another ~$1K to make it $31,000 even. Couldn't get them below 4.9% on the financing, but I plan on refinancing with my credit union at 3.44% (I'll wait 90 days to make sure the dealer doesn't get a chargeback on that).
