    Hello,
I'm looking into buying a used 2017 silver Prius Advanced with 29K miles however, the silver color is very unusual. It doesn't look like silver, almost like bright platinum. I did a search on line but I can't find any photos of a similar bright silver Prius or any discussion on it and I'm concerned that the car may have been repainted.
Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.
    Thanks, Mike.

    From the Googles:

Color Options on the new 2017 Toyota Prius:
    • Hypersonic Red
    • Blizzard Pearl
    • Classic Silver Metallic
    • Magnetic Gray Metallic
    • Midnight Black Metallic
    • Sea Glass Pearl
    • Blue Crush Metallic
I'm thinking that the "Classic Silver Metalic" is the same old 'geezer silver" that we've all known and loved since at least 2006 because they called it Classic Silver Metallic back then too.......Key Word = "Classic" which is marketing-speak for......'old.'

You may be looking at a Prime which has a color called Titanium Glow....
Obviously the people who think of the names for these colors are using the same recreational drugs that the people who design the body are hooked on.....but that's new cars for you.
It's technically a G4 Prius, but it's a Prius Prime rather than the garden variety 'cordless' Prius.
Here's a picture of the Prime in Titanium Glow.....
It is also possible that the Googles are wrong and this color is also available on the 5-seater.....

I doubt VERY seriously if the car has been repainted in either case.

    Good Luck!!!
(If you're dealing with a Toyota Dealership, youre going to NEED IT!!!!)

I was kinda wondering if it was Blizzard Pearl, couldn't think of the name.

Just a tip, the silver on rims, and I'd think the wheel covers too, is Classic Silver Metallic. I think I've used touch-up way more on our rims than our car.

29k miles in 1 year? I would get something with fewer miles that is still under warranty.

    Not me.
If the price is right, I'd jump on it.
Somebody already cashed the government kickback check (if it's a Prime) and if the OP is at a Toyota dealership, then that means that they really STUCK it to somebody on the trade-in, probably buyer's remorse that resulted in upgrading to flashier sheet metal.
----and so they don't have a lot in the car.
PLUS.....if the car is in really good shape and it hasn't been wrecked, flooded, stolen, etc...then it's a cinch that they'll also try to rip the prospective buyer off for some CPO money.

All good stuff if you can smell the blood in the water.

.....let somebody ELSE pay the depreciation!
    :D

Yes, it's a lot in 18 months. According to Carfax the car was sold in Mar 2017 and offered for sale Aug 18. That's another concern for me.

No it's not Titanium Glow which has a bit of pink in it. This one is bright silver not the classic silver. I'll try to get the paint code.
    Thanks.

Does the dealer selling the car have an on-site body shop? Those guys could tell you if it's been repainted. No paint job is perfect. There are ways to tell.

Truthfully, the car drives like a sharm way better than my 2012 Advance (I'm not sure why such a huge difference) and it has a clean Carfax. Few nicks here and there. Also I'm sure it's an Advanced because it has the Head on Display. I'm hesitant though because of the mileage and paint color.
    Thanks.

When I bought my Gen 4, I drove a Gen 3 as well, the Gen 4 is light years better than the Gen 3.

You can usually tell if a car has been repainted - there are sure to be flaws somewhere, and places like the door reveals, behind the door handles - and above all, under the bonnet - there are a couple of painted areas on the firewall and the inner guards - they wouldn't have bothered with (unless it was a full strip-down, which wouldn't be worth the $$$ in a modern mass market car).

Silvers can look different according to the light - have another look maybe.

I assume it's not a Japan market model - they've got more colours than the rest of the world? Though second thoughts, probably not - your steering wheel is on the wrong side.

Yes, five years of technology will probably make a huge difference in how the Prime drives compared to Gen 4.
The silver is unusally bright not as dark as the Classic Silver. It may be a special order like you said from Japan, Europe or Canada.
I'll check it again tomorrow and report back. I'll also try to find the paint code.
    ThanK you

This car has 29,000 miles despite how nice it drives. I'm just wondering what can go wrong if any for putting so much mileage in 18 months?
    Thanks

If it's a special color from the factory, the paint code should be on the decal in the driver's door jamb. FYI, Classic Silver Metallic is 1F7.

So is it a PRIME or a PRIUS? (This is in the PRIUS Gen 4 Forum.)

29,000 miles = 29,000 miles whether done over 12 months or 12 years. In fact, it's less likely to have done lots of short trips which, in most cars mean more cold starts - though a hybrid is a little different.

Are you looking at a PRIUS or a PRIME?

Yeah, I am wondering that too. I think it is PRIME. OP keep calling it Prius "Advanced". That's a trim for PRIME not for Gen4 regular Prius.

If it's PRIME - Gen 4 won't give him the answers she wants, but needs to ask the PRIME forum (we can hit "REPORT" and get it shifted if so).

Agreed. The thread may need to be moved to PRIME section.;)
