My install and review of the AIMS Prius 2kW Pure Sine Wave Inverter for Backup Power Generator | PriusChat @AHetaFan made a great write-up in the link above. Take a look at this and let me know if you have any questions. Yea, I have a metal, flexible hose for the exhaust outside of my garage.
Great info!!! I already told my CFO that the Earth will be orbiting a cold dead star before I try to feed a gasoline generator in a post storm or other prolonged electrical outage environment. Interestingly enough (at least to me....) we just suffered an A-coil failure in our home HVAC - requiring the purchase of a 10,000 BTU window unit---something I should already have bought but have been putting off. Some back of the envelope math tells me that I can run that and my other minor hotel loads off of a hybrid/PHEV setup. 2-3kw will also give me some more flexibility with other post storm items like electric chain saws. Any idea what your burn rate is? Thanks again for re-kindling my interest in this. It's been over 10 years since my last major storm.....which means the next one is getting bigger and bigger in the rear-view mirror!!
I have been running with loads that vary from 250W to 700-800W. I have run it from about 7AM to about 10PM. Today is day 6 and I have used about 6 gallons. So about 1 gallon per day at my loading.
Copy that! Good info. So....I gallon per day for normal hotel loads (LED lights, fans, phone chargers, wifi, maybe a tv or two, and a refrigerator.) Seems to be much more efficient than a gas genset.....huh? Stay safe!!!! Hope this is your last 6-day + power outage......but if you have another one, I'm interested in reading some napkin drawing guestimations for how long the T3 will carry the load before you have to go looking for some of the other kinda juice...... Portable solar? That T3 makes for a Yuuuuge storage bucket. Quite often it's sunny for a number of days after the storm! Hmmmmmm......
