I'm in the process of replacing the six CD changer in my car with an aftermarket double din head unit. I've taken off the dashboard panels in my car, removed the stereo and found that the connector wasn't what I was expecting. Searching around the web, I realise that that is because this is a JBL head unit and I need an adapter. I have ordered this TYTO-01 unit: http://a.co/d/1mIm7qz that should allow me to connect my new head unit up. Will this unit let me just plug the connectors from the car into it? Has anyone else done this, and can give any advice?
I bypassed any of the JBL amp and speakers so I only needed power and ground. But I'm sure there's a connector to give you what you need. A resistor needs to go in line for the display to still work. Usually install kits come with it . Forgot what it's called Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
I did this a few months back. I changed my head unit to a pioneer one. I realised that I needed the tyto-01 to be able to use the jbl amp and speakers. I also purchased the aswc-1 for the steering wheel controls. To get the steering wheel controls to work you do have to add a resistor (included in the box) and then connect another two holes. The whole process is pretty straight forward. Good luck! iPhone ?
