I remember someone was asking about how to wire an amplifier on the gen4. I ventured the attempt this weekend. I did finish, but I didn't think glamour shots would be helpful. This link is to yesterday's photo album through Google Photos. Enjoy! https://photos.app.goo.gl/FPFbQa3ZR8spjmWK6
How did you drill the hole in the firewall. It doesn't look like you can get a drill in there straight against the firewall. What kind of drill did you use? I have a cheap cordless 12v drill. Do you think that would be strong enough to get through the metal? Is that 4 gauge power wire? Thanks!
Any tips on drilling the firewall hole? From the inside or outside? I would think from the outside in that location, but how did you get the drill in there? extension? did you have to drill at a downward angle? Thank you.
I drilled from the inside. I couldn't get the drill close enough from the engine side. It was very slightly at a downward angle, but the grommet ring and wire still fit through, luckily.
I don't know if the 4th gen is the similar to the 3rd gen in the firewall boot area, but when i fished some wire through the boot I just sliced an X and pushed my wire hanger through. The material is very easy to cut so be careful.
Did you use an extension of some sort. I assume you went through the speaker opening. I cannot get the drill close enough from the inside. Also, any tips on getting the wiper cowl off? I have the instructions and was able to get the arms off, then the corner pieces. I'm stuck at the point where you are supposed to use the molding remover to pop it off. I have a similar to the one pictured but I cannot get it off. Thank you.
I just pulled on it. You can feel where the retaining clips are by the give that the cowl has. Try and pull as close to those as possible. As for the inside, I had the upper part of the dash off, which also just pulls off.
