Ok yes I know this thread it's over ten years old. HOWEVER, i just recently bought my 04 prius. Absolutely, love it. But I also have the same issue, my solution was the plastic dowel that you clippers into the ceiling clip just roll/spins so I dripped superglue inside the dowel roller so that it now is stationary and when I want it down the outside of the plastic roller friction slides against the clip. Made video of it but can't figure out how to include it.
