Thinking back to your initial posts and descriptions: about the spraying of water in engine bay: that points to some connectors or internal electronics shorting out. I guess water spray could kill a coil, and maybe the injectors have some electronics as well, not sure.

Frustrating: an engine cosmetic treatment likely caused a lot of damage.

More reason not to do it;).

Dust as best you can, then live with the results (y).

Did I read where the symptoms temporarily went away while spraying carb cleaner into the intake? Do you think you have an air leak and this leads to a lean condition that is temporarily resolved by adding a volatile aerosol (carb cleaner)?

I think the spraying of the carb cleaner and the knocking going away could easily be connected to the fact that the injectors are not working correctly. I don't think the cleaning actually had anything to do with this, just bad timing. The guy had cleaned the engine and the inside of the car and was running the car to dry the rugs out when after an hour it started to knock. If it was something he did it would have started knocking right away. Car looks great and I'm confident it will run great once I replace the injectors. I actually bought a kit to test the injectors so I'll be doing that as well.

Could you please tell us more about this injector test kit, and or provide a product link :)

Here is a link to a YouTube video that provide a good information. It's got some not-so-good jokes and it but the technical information is good.
. Here is the pulsar that you need to trigger the injector. I got this on Amazon fir for $36:EM276 Automotive Injector Tester 4 Pluse Modes Powerful Fuel System Scan Tool

And I got the fuel pressure gauge that you will need as well for the testing procedure on Amazon for about $35: Bang4buck 20 Pieces 0-140 PSI Fuel Injection Pressure Tester Kit with Case for Gasoline-driven Car, Truck, RV, SUV & ATV

Well the job is complete! Took me about 3 hours total time. Testing the injectors I found one that was not working at all. I decided to replace all four since I had it all apart anyway. After I put it back together it started right up no problems no knocking all good! I did not replace the coil as I have no way to really test the coil and I'm not convinced that was the problem anyway. I did run a can of seafoam spray through the motor to clean everything up. It is purring like a kitten.$35 for the injectors about $70 for the test equipment and 3 hours of my time. Throwing another $10 bucks for the seafoam and it's only cost is $115 a far cry less than the $1700 I was quoted. I'm one happy guy thanks for everyone's help!

Injector that was bad was the number three which is behind the air filter so I really don't think the detailing I had done really had anything to do with the failure I think it was just a bad injector.
