Just got my red HOV decals for my Prime Advanced. Now, what are the ideal locations to put these? I know there are sensors around the bumpers which I can make out from the circular imprints, but there are some other seams that I'm not so certain about. Anyone have any advice on best locations to put the decals (in accordance with the DMV's directions of course)? Thanks!
Dealership in Bay Area already had my decals on the car. Here’s where they stuck ours. Front driver side: Back and back driver side: Passenger side rear: iPad ?
Huh, interesting placement of that smaller one on the back. Seems a lot higher than I would expect. Thanks for sharing!
I thought so too. Guess they are used to small accidents and figured hatch is less likely to need to be replaced as opposed to bumper? Oh well. Still haven’t been in HOV lanes yet with new prime. iPhone ?
Interesting placements. When I was sent my decals originally, the directions said to place the small decals on the left front and right rear bumpers and the large decals on the left front and right rear quarter panels. Now I see the directions on the DMV site say to place the large stickers on both the left and right rear quarter panels and the small stickers in the original locations (left front and right rear bumpers). Personally, I just placed one of the small stickers on the right rear plastic portion of my bumper and the other one in the left front. Left the large ones off.
Would make more sense. The placement of my stickers makes less and less sense the more I think about it. Like why do I have 2 on driver side (which would be facing median in HOV lane) none on front and only one on passenger side. At least the rear placement makes some sense. iPad ?
I remember reading I think on this forum someone was pulled over and received a citation for stickers put in the wrong locations. If you cross one of the Bay Area bridges, they take a photo of the front and rear of the car. If your sticker isn't there, I would assume they can cite you for going across in the carpool lane. Maybe or maybe not, but I would follow the DMV instructions for sticker placement to be safe.
I've seen cars with stickers all over the place (locations seem to be wherever strikes the owner's fancy). Then again, I have seen tons of single ICE drivers in SUV's, sedans, etc. driving in the HOV lane whenever the mood strikes them. I especially "like" the ones who abruptly cut across the double-solid lines into the HOV lane just as traffic in the normal lanes comes to a stop. Going to go out on a branch here and say that the very few times I see a CHP officer (who hasn't pulled someone over or is in the process of doing that), it's very unlikely it is for sticker placement. I've seen CHP vehicles drive right by single occupant ICE drivers in the HOV lanes a few times also. I would guess sticker placement would be very near the bottom of their enforcement priorities.
