For those that may be curious, switching over to 5W-30 Mobil 1 did not cause my MPG to go down. In fact, it went up a little. And the ICE seems quieter when accelerating, and also when idling. If the engine gets extra wear protection from the slightly thicker oil, I'm all for it. I am in a very warm area, where it can be 85° on Christmas day. 500 miles driven. 59 displayed, 57 calculated. (I usually average 54 calculated after 500 miles.) PWR mode. (No "Eco" driving.) Tires deflated to factory PSI levels--maybe only 1 pound over. The ride is so much smoother & better! And of course, the AC running full-time. Now I need to go get gas. I usually don't let it go 500 miles before filling up.
And Chevron with Techron is the fuel of choice for the Starship. And the Pilot needed a fill-up, too. All you retirees, get out there and do a daily drive in that nice Prius! Man cannot live on Priuschat alone.
I’ll be down to mickey’s place the week after thanksgiving to collect my churro . Glad nothing happened..
Hopefully it will be a little cooler by then. I'm liking this Mobil 5W-30 more and more. Some people may not notice any difference at all, but I actually do hear and feel a little improvement in my Gen4 ICE. The long-term goal is better wear protection with the 30 weight. I'll never see inside the engine of course, but I'm hoping it works. I was never comfortable with 0/20. And the posts by BuickGM helped me decide to give it a try.
Maybe I’ll bring the cool weather with me . It’s been unseasonably cool up here at around 80 for the last several days. Hopefully that doesn’t mean September will be scorching hot.
