Can you be more specific? Are you referencing certified MPG on the sticker price on the window, or something else?
lower? it's higher. much higher, percentage wise. you must be thinking of the gen 4 lift back. sharp looking, too! and, you get more options in the package. looks like a winner!
The 2018 is the same as the 2017. The 2019 EPA mileage is not yet posted. The EPA test changed in 2017, lowering some numbers compared to previous years. That explains this comparison. The testing changed, not the vehicle. EDIT: This article says the 2019 Prius c will have the same mileage as the 2017 & 2018. 2019 Toyota Prius C preview: $900 price increase, fewer options
The testing models changed. According to Fuelly.com, real world users aren't seeing much difference, if any.
@Prodigyplace 's got it. There was a small change to the EPA testing for 2017 that further adjusted the mpg down on all vehicles.
This is what I meant. I have a 2014 so the MPG are higher. I didn't know there was a change in the testing and that's why 2019 is lower.
There was a bit of controversy when Toyota introduced the Gen 4 Prius in 2016. Toyota used the newer EPA test that was not required until 2017 so the mileage improvement looked lower than it really was compared to the Gen 3. When everybody else took an EPA mileage hit in 2017, the Prius looked much better since its number did not change.
Either you don't understand this correctly or you just aren't saying it right. The "official" EPA numbers are ESTIMATES only and are not even arrived at using actual real world conditions. While the published "estimate" for your car might be higher, I'm pretty sure that in practical use it is NOT.
The EPA estimate is lower. My 14 has a higher MPG estimate than the 19. Other pointed out that the testing done to get the estimate has changed and that's why there is a difference.
That's true I still have the window sticker 60 EPA CITY up to MY2006...2007 2008 2009 had a revised CITY EPA test. Car is the same, EPA changes. Meanwhile for a period I was exempt from Va. emissions tests, but the 2007+ had to do it...then they finally fixed it. Glad I escaped the hassle.
