When I'm already in a call? My car has an odd feature. If I'm in a call and I get another caller, the screen momentarily notifies me of the new call and then automatically drops the call I'm on and connects me to the new caller. I don't want this. This is not how any of my previous Toyotas have worked. Any ideas?
On some of my previous phones, this was a setting in the phone itself. The option was that it would auto answer when connected to a Bluetooth device. I haven’t seen any option like this in the Prius. iPhone ?
In my Samsung Galaxy S8, under Settings>Accessibility>Answering and Ending Calls, "Automatic answering" is turned off so I don't think it's the phone. BTW, it doesn't automatically answer all calls, just when I'm in another call, making all the more annoying.
Contact your phone provider and see if your line is equipped with "call waiting". If it is, have that turned OFF.
My only concern with that is that I haven't changed my settings with Verizon and this phone does not/has not done this with any other Toyotas that I've used it with... ever. I have used this same phone with a 2012 Prius, a 2012 Camry Hybrid and a 2017 RAV4 Hybrid. None of these cars did this. I have assumed that it's the car. Someone suggested I delete the phone and re-pair it back to the car. I'll try that next.
Even if that is true: Your chances of getting it "fixed" are a bit less than ZERO. And call waiting is just a big pain in the backside anyway. I don't see ANY other way this can happen.......because if your PHONE never receives/accepts the second call, then the car won't see it either. The Bluetooth connection to the car just acts like a fancy speaker phone. It just does what the phone allows it to do. My phone does have a setting for "Automatically answer calls when a headset is connected " and that includes Bluetooth. That might be part of your problem too. Your PHONE may be automatically answering that second call.
FWIW. I have: iPhone X Two Landlines Sprint Cell Service with Call Waiting (which I can't remember the last time I used it). Disclaimer: I wear hearing aids so I temporarily set General: Accessibility: Call Audio Routing to AUTO. Normally it routes to the phone (not car). That said: Placed call to iPhone X from Landline 1 while attached to my Prime's Handsfree and answered the call. Then from the second landline I placed a call to my iPhone X. On the Prime's 11" touch screen I was given the option to answer the call or reject it (green and red handset icons). IT DID NOT AUTO ANSWER SECOND CALL. I manually answered the second call from the touch screen and was able to take the second call. At this point my options from the touch screen were to continue the call or just hang up. I hung up and both calls were dropped. Prior to that I had some additional options on the iPhone X screen but that technically would be illegal if I were actually driving so I ignored that option. After both calls were dropped I received an automatic call from the original number. I believe this was to reestablish the original call. This might be a feature of my landline provider ATT but I am not sure. So for me call waiting works as expected at least for answering. Terminating either call or switching between calls was not available or not obvious to me. Hope it helps. J
That's the way this phone works with every other Toyota. I just tried it out in my wife's 2017 RAV4 and it still works as yours does i.e. I have to "answer" the new call to disconnect the one I am in. This Prime just doesn't wait for me to click "Answer". It just answers it.
I'm pretty sure that the Prime NEVER "answers a call". It is the phone that does that. Have you checked the phone to see if there is a setting for "automatically answer calls when in "headset" mode" like I mentioned earlier ?? But by all means, try to get Toyota to fix it. And then try to get the maker of your phone to fix it. But don't be surprised if neither of them really gives a TRA about your problem.
