I'm buying all the bits to service my car online - I'm in the UK - and cannot find a source for the PCV valve, which is due. I've tried the obvious places like Amazon, eBay and eurocarparts.com - can anyone suggest a source? Cheers, Nat
It looks like Toyota's part number is 12204-21011. I found a seller on Amazon.com but not available from amazon.co.uk. Perhaps the part number could be of some help.
I am not a fan of crapBay (eBay), but there are some people supposedly selling "genuine OEM" PCV valves. Caveat Emptor (Buyer Beware). toyota 12204-21011 | eBay Interesting why all the sellers are from the US, on eBay's UK site.
I just called Toyota - they want £46 for the part ($60) so that seems like a no-go. Maybe I just won't replace it...
I asked our local dealership back in the summer: $14.19 (Can). Seems like Toyota UK has a license to print money. When I had the intake manifold off I backed it out and gave it a squirt of carb cleaner, reinstalled. There's a test you can do to check if it's functional too. Attachment is for third gen, but I think they're all similar.
You could do the shaking test that Mendel suggests and apply carb cleaner too. Your PCV valve will most likely still be functional. For the few dollars it costs us on the other side of the pond, most just replace it. $8.04USD, 2007 Toyota Prius Parts - Camelback Toyota Parts - Genuine OEM Parts - Free Shipping Contact some of the sellers, and see if they are an actual Toyota dealership? I just bought one from eBay PCV Vent Valve 12204-21011 fits For Toyota Prius Yaris Echo Scion xA 1999~2008 | eBay, which I hope will fit. If nothing else it will give me confidence to remove and clean the original one on the engine. How did you proceed in the end NatJS?
12204-21011 looks to be the correct number. Here's a link from a US Toyota dealership with online parts department: PCV Valve - Toyota (12204-21011) | Toyota Parts Sadly they won't even ship to Canada, but still a good reference.
I would just pick one up at our nearby dealership. IIRC I asked once and it was around $10. But yeah: OP's quandry was UK dealerships are gouging.
I just completed an online chat with ToyotaTown in London. Their parts department is going to email me their price for just the part (no installation). I'll post the information here when I get it. The worst that can happen is their price + shipping will be too high too.
Well, I feel like a complete idiot. After searching for Toyota dealers in the UK, I proceeded to have a nice chat and get a quote from a dealer in London, CANADA. I never bothered to take a closer look at the address. They quoted $23, picked up at their dealership, but it's no help to NatJS.
