On ours sometimes the plug needs one more little push to get it fully engaged. The plug moves in a fraction, it clicks, and the green light illuminates. The power supply gives its clickclick-click and its green light illuminates.

Plugged in the J1772 plug, green light lit up, the three blue lights on the dashboard not lit or flashing opened driver side door then closed it, got the famous charge now message with it greyed out and no response from the steering wheel joystick, turned on car and observed the charging connector icon, there was no activity there, then after a few seconds the charging receptacle icon started charging and the far right hand side blue light started flashing

I had this happen just last week and after playing with it, disconnecting, reconnecting, etc. it started to charge on its own. This was on a 240v charger at our local college, not my 120v at home unit. I've only had it once but try Huskers suggestion.

just saw this today, was strange. i tried locking the whole car with my fob, and i think it started to charge immediately. i think...
next time i'll just leave it and do nothing and see how long it takes to start charging.
weird thing was at the beginning, no blue lights on the passenger dash board, then after some fiddling around, opening doors, trying to press steering wheel buttons, etc
i noticed 1 blue light on , but solid.
eventually after the locking trick, (if thats what did it) the single blue light was flashing like normal charging, and if i opened a door it said on the MID 5 hours 30 minutes to full charge.

Occasionally there will be a delay before charging starts. Possibly related to the battery having been heavily used just prior to starting charging (unproven at this time?).

This morning, I plugged into the same L2 charger I always use and while the "Charge" light activated on the L2 charger, nothing happened on the Prime side (i.e. no charge lights on the dash - although I heard the low "hissing" sound the vehicle makes while charging). After about 3-5 minutes, I heard the sound of a relay tripping coming from the rear and the vehicle finally started charging.

Sounds like it's a software problem that they haven't bothered to fix. I have a 2020 Prius Prime and I have encountered the same problem half a dozen times over 18 months, that's why I go on the web to find a solution. Typically happened when the battery was not showing 0%. It eventually would start charging after a few minutes, but at a public charging station I had to hang around to be sure it's started.
